for me i wouldnt touch any of these fancy gearboxes unless i was within the manufacturers warranty
mind you a mate had one(owned from new)with FDSH and it locked up in the outside lane of the motorway!!0 -
MMT is available on the Toyota Aygo and they just happen to be the only Aygos subject to the accelerator recall...
Sound expensive things to run, I've heard a few horror stories about VW DSG.0 -
Good choice list, all of those listed come with either a 5 year or in the case of Kia a 7 year warranty.;)
I must confess that the extended warranty did sway me towards these choices.
I haven't tried any of them yet but, going simply by the brochures, the Kia Rio and Diahatsu Sirion seem to be front runners.
Once again thanks for all the replies which have helped greatly.Waddle you do eh?0 -

But just to add whatever automatic you go for make sure you have a good test drive in the one you want preferably for a whole day
Have a look at the Fords the power shift box is extremely good I believe

The link given by jack spratt refers to an older version of the MMT box, noting the thread started in 2005 about the Corolla Verso. The Aygo uses the 3rd generation of the MMT box and is much smoother than the older versions found on older Toyota models. Yes its not perfect but the selling point of the Aygo MMT is its fuel economy and tax and a full automatic gearbox wouldn't be great in a 1 litre Aygo!0

If you do a search on the Toyota owners website there are plenty of posts complaining about the newer version MMT .
While I believe the MMT is better suited to smaller cars I myself would still not buy one.!
I am not anti this type of gearbox as I believe this is all that will be available in years to come but there are better example of this box on the market0
