Anyone flown with TC before? We're flying out to Cyprus with them in May and was wondering what they're like, I know it's only about a 4.5 hour flight but both my hubby and I are quite tall, I'm 5ft 9" with very long legs and he is 6ft 1" and very big built so will need some sort of leg room, can't find on their site about leg pitch space. It does state however that you can pre-book your seats 7 days before flight but don't know if it's worth it or to just wait and see what they allocate us on arrival at the airport, but then is there a danger we may not be seated together??:A

Yes they lots of times only 1 problems with them a couple of yeasr ago at leeds 8 hour delay. Last year me son and his dad both over 6ft were given the extra leg room seats for free on our way back from florida. As long as you have no children with you under 14 I think, you could ask for emargency exit seats over the wing but be there first for check in or pre book could be expensive though. No one in front of you then as passageway has to clear.Hope this helps.0

In my experience Thomas Cook are very keen to sell extra legroom seats and are very unlikely to give them away. For Cyprus it costs £60 return. Seat pitch varies between aircraft, but is 28'' on the Boeing 757. The seats at the back of the aircraft are particularly tight. I am the same height as your husband and do not like the legroom on the Thomas Cook B757s, although otherwise the airline is fine. For how to book a legroom seat see:
If you are travelling on Thomas Cook Airline flights you can purchase seats with extra leg room at check-in, subject to availability.
We have a selected number of seats on board offering additional legroom for extra comfort. These seats are adjacent to emergency exits, Company and Civil Aviation Authority regulations apply. If you'd like to reserve one, simply call us no later than 4 working days before your departure (can be booked as early as the day the reservation is made) and we'll make the arrangements. Exit seats are next to the emergency exit doors and can be cold, appropriate clothing is required.
From £35.00 return per adult for a short haul flight
From £60.00 return per adult for a mid haul flight
From £80.00 return per adult for a long haul flight.
Short haul flight is under 3 hours duration
Mid Haul flights are from 4 to 6 hours
Long haul flight 7 hours and over
In the unlikely event that our check-in staff or cabin crew should judge that
you are unsuitable for these seats, you will be assigned another seat and
reimbursed in full upon your return.
To book exit seats please contact Thomas Cook Airlines on 0844 855 0515 or visit https://www.thomascookairlines.co.uk, where this can be actioned online.0 -
I know it's a been a few months since we had our Cyprus holiday but just thought I'd follow up on our experience with this airline. It was classed as a mid-haul flight and I pre-booked our seats through their website a week before we were due to fly, the only seats left were ailse seats so booked one each sitting across the ailse from each other (both ways), thinking we would be able to swing our legs out for more room if required. I only just about had enought leg room (being 5ft 9" tall myself with an inside leg of 34") but I think that was only because the person sitting in front of me didn't recline their seat. Hubby however had a nightmare journey both there and back, he is 6ft 1" tall and of a big build too and it was a very tight squeeze for him, then for some reason the person sitting in front of him decided they wanted a short nap so reclined their seat and hubby had to swing his legs out into the ailse as had no room whatsoever, then with people constantly coming up and down the ailse and the trolley also coming up and down it seemed the whole of the flight journey consisted of him trying to get his legs in and out. We could've probably upgraded to a seat with more leg room/pitch but couldn't afford the extra cost. Now planning on a holiday to Egypt in March and dreading what airlines we will get to fly with as the flight time is an extra hour! Other than the flight we had no hold-ups at the airports (both ways) and had a lovely holiday.0

Any chance you could change your font and colour - it makes your posts almost impossible to read unless you HTR.
I'm 6foot4 and simply don't fit into economy seating - especially not on high-density aircraft. If possible you should pay for the extra space, possibly by putting £5 each week on the run up to the holiday. On the outbound flight it's not too bad as you are excited about your holiday, but it can be a nightmare on the return, particularly if your flight is an unsociable hour!
However, the counter-arguement is that the money saved probably pays for a nice meal when you are on holiday. I guess it's the off-set of comfort on your flight vs extra spending money on holiday.Legal team on standby0 -
Sorry about the previous font colour, it was a bit pale, hope this is better.:AAny chance you could change your font and colour - it makes your posts almost impossible to read unless you HTR.

It's looking more likely now that we will definitely book this holiday to Luxor in March of next year and have been told by Thomas Cook travel agent that it will be indeed a Thomas Cook Airlines plane. Does anyone know how much in advance we can pre-book the seats with extra legroom which I believe will cost us £60 each return (we were under the impression it was £60 each person each way when we booked the holiday to Cyprus in May of this year, hence didn't want to pay that much). When I went to pre-book our "normal" seats for the Cyprus holiday we could only do it 7 days before the flight date, is it the same if we want to upgrade our seats (and pay for the privilege), as they may all be sold by then?:(0 -

IIRC you can pre book your seats 90 days before departure, we've just done ours for Tunisia in September, I would sugest you get in quick as the exta leg room seats go fastI hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Umm, the normal default colour is the easiest one to read normally, comic text in bold and a bright colour is offputting, tbh.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
