Just a general rant about mother-isms.

I was on the phone to a friend earlier who I haven't spoken to for nearly 12 months. After about 20 minutes my mobile rang and it was my mum. This worried me a bit because she never rings my mobile as she thinks she'll need a large lottery win to pay for the call. I stopped the conversation with my friend and put the phone down to ring mum back.
It turns out that she rang me on my mobile because the house phone was engaged for about 20 minutes, I explained that's because I was on it and had hung up to ring her back as I thought something was wrong. She had nothing of interest to tell me unless I have an unhealthy obsession with next doors fence, which I don't
Does anyone elses mother do daft little things that are quite annoying or is this just a long line of mother-isms that only my mum does?

Mine calls me on my mobile (no landline) and if she gets no reply just hits redial until I answer.
I tell her I was on another call, in shower or whatever and I would call her back as soon as I can, but she still does it0 -
Its not my mother that does it to me but DD1 does and it drives me round the twist!0

Mine has an in-built radar to ring me at the most inconvienient times - usually when i'm in the bath/on the loo/just about to take my dinner out of the oven!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

I lost my phone last year when I was out one night (I was practically carrying my extremely drunk friend home at the time, so didn't notice when it fell out of my bag. Serves me right to be using an incredibly small evening bag!).
I didn't even notice that it had gone until the next morning when I realised it was missing. I put my computer on to find an email from my mother demanding that I get in touch IMMEDIATELY as I had lost my phone (no **** Sherlock!) and some bloke had rung my dad's mobile saying that he had found it in the street.
Next thing I know, there's a knock on my door and it's some guy in a suit from my uni seeing if I'm okay. Apparently my mother has been ringing up asking if someone can check on me!
Talking to her later, I find I had a lucky escape. She nearly took the day off work and drove down herself to see if I was ok!
I wouldn't have minded so much if I had been 18 and a brand new fresher. But I'm 24 and a postgrad!
I am VERY grateful to the bloke who picked up my phone and arranged for it to be returned to me, but I cannot explain why my mother thinks that the loss of my phone means that I am "lying dead in a gutter somewhere" (her words, not mine).
If someone had mugged me for my phone, the phone would not be on the ground waiting to be picked up. If someone had attacked me, surely I would have been lying near the phone?!Sealed Pot Challenge Number 1225

My mom has to tell me every little thing my brothers and sister are doing, like I'd be interested.
I try not to let her know what I'm doing , I know she'd just phone them all to tell them, like they'd be interested in what I'm doing :rotfl:
And I really don't care that Mrs Elbow-Grease down the road has had her hair permed!
But one day we'll be praying that they will ring us again just to talk utter garbage, and they won't be with us any more.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

When the children were little both my exMIL and mother would harp on about them having a regular, set bedtime routine but both of them would ring at exactly 6.01pm to whitter on about absolutely nothing!!
Also the accusatory "I rang earlier but you were out/engaged"!!One life.0 -
I see my mum almost every day, plus I talk to her on the phone as well. If something pops into my head i'll phone her, even though i've talked to her a couple of times already, or even just minutes before. If i'm going anywhere i'll let her know. She worries if she can't get a hold of me. When we had dial-up she kept knocking me off my connection because she kept phoning and one time she came round to my house at midnight because she couldn't get hold of me.
She'd been trying to get a hold of me for a couple of hours but I just kept logging back on. That time it did annoy me. :rotfl:
I often go to the airport to drop off or pick up my son and husband. It's 40 miles away. I usually phone her when I get there, and phone her to tell her i'm home again. My mother-in-law is the same if I go to visit her. We live 18 miles away and I have to phone her once I get home.
At the moment i'm working every evening from 8.30 until 10pm. \Mum often phones me after 10pm to ask if I was working, saying that she phoned before and couldn't get a hold of me.
I'm almost 42. I like it.It's good to know someone's thinking about you. :A
