Firstly if you keep the car going in a nice straight line that won't happen and secondly you re-engage it once the engine has stopped so that you can manoeuvre the vehicle - surely that should be obvious.

Steering only locks if you withdraw the key.

Which is what keystone suggested doing..

there isn’t a car been built where the engine can overcome a hard application of cold brakes.

    Thrust SSC? :rotfl:

Definatly brakes on, ignition off situation IMHO.... (on most cars steering lock does not engage till key removed)

I did, but it didn't change your concept of withdrawing the key, which seems crazy to me.

Any modern engine won't explode it will just bounce on the rev limiter.

i had a merc vito that didn't like to stop even when the accelerator pedal wasn't being pressed and the brakes on hard.
i also drove a nascar that had no servo assisted brakes and didn't like to stop either,im sure if its v6 went into full revs i would have had no chance in holding it back. same for the vito it was a powerful van and just would not stop well at all. when the brakes got any kind of heat in them there was no point in even pressing the pedal they faded something terrible.

  • assuming youre not driving, pull the fuse out. That'll disable it.
