A really stupid blackberry question

Sorry about my lack of any sort of techhy knowledge!!

Anyway, my dad has just got a blackberry curve 8900 on O2, i think its like £15 pound a month for unlimited texts and so many minutes. This is probably a really stupid question, but theres nothing about internet etc mentioned. Now, if he were to connect to a wifi connection (like in his house or mcdonalds or wherever) how does that work? Does he need to have some internet plan on his phone or does the internet in his house cover it?

Thanks!
MM

If you connect using WiFi then you will use the internet plan you are connecting to either you homes or McDs, same as using another laptop.

If you connect using 3G ect. then you will be using the phones internet plan.
