Change of name after marriage - any problems?

I got married last October but what with moving house I decided not to change my name at the time. Could anyone tell me what I'll need to do with the following companies, whether they'll require proof, if they accept a photocopy or a certified copy? I only have 1 certificate at the moment.
Bank - this is first in the list to change since everything else has to tally with my billing address.
PayPal - I'll transfer everything to my bank account first just in case.
Online surveys - I haven't reached the payment threshold with a few of these and don't want to lose what I've banked. I think changing my address when I moved caused a problem with Ipsos. I can't access the gift area anymore and they haven't replied to my e-mails.
Online shopping - sites I've used before have my maiden name on record (I don't ask them to save card details). Should I be able to type in my new surname and continue as normal - as long as it matches the billing details?
Any advice on how long this should take, what proof companies will expect, any problems people have had, will be greatly appreciated!
My married surname sounds a lot better, doesn't have to be spelt out to people on the phone, and doesn't make me sound like a Hobbit.

I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.
I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Bank - you should be able to present your documents in person at the branch, rather than sending them off. The branch I went to then took photocopies and sent them in.
Passport - need you to send original copy.
Driving licence - send original documents.
Online shopping - some sites accepted my change of name without a problem (amazon), others it was such a drama that I ended up starting new accounts (dorothy perkins(0 -
Don't forget;
Car insurance
House insurance
Mobile phones
BT landline
Gas
Water
Electricity
Driving licence
Passport
A marriage certificate should be suffice for most of these.0 -

You need to change passport and/or driving licence before changing anything with Paypal - they will only accept a government issued photo id before they will change anything.
This has caused major problems for me as my passport is only a year old and is in my maiden name, I won't change it until it expires, so paypal will not accept it as a valid form of id. I don't have a driving licence, therefore, I can't change anything on my Paypal account - my new cards are in my married name, but I've had to (potentially committing fraud) put them in my maiden name on Paypal as there is no option to change the surname - bizaarely enough, I can change my first name!!0 -
My bank (Santander) wouldn't accept the marriage licence - they wanted a passport first
Hence I have never 'officially' changed anything yet, :oI just paid for the passport 2 months before the wedding, I really resent paying out again just to change my name.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. mine was really straightforward. Got some extra copies of the marriage cert and the lady at the bank actually offered to do certified copies for us (coop bank). I don't think I've actually changed paypal.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

For paypal, easiest option is just to set up a new account in your new name. you have to jump through all sorts of hoops to change things and I just couldn't be bothered! Much easier just to set up a new one
Obviously you would need a new email address to set up the new account, since that's your username on paypal.
Then you can add your new cards in your new name. Just make sure to link up your new paypal with ebay etc (if that's what you use it for), and any other sites where your paypal info is saved, and get rid of any links to the old one.
BTW you can change your surname and address easily on ebay, no probs.0 -
it is a trouble to change the name after marriage. No other ways/living is the most important0

You should be able to go into your branch and use your marriage certificate along with your passport. It doesn't have to be in your name as far as I'm aware. If they don't accept your passport (I would) then a driving license, or credit/debit card (excluding Santander) should suffice. Just make sure you take your Santander details with you whether it's your card/book.0 -

Just to let everyone know that the bank cannot legally do certified copies. They can photocopy them for their records but not actually sign and certify them. Only the registrar/church can produce certified copies.0
