Sally, moaning is good, a problem shared and all that. Have you suggested voluntering to him? I know generally its female's that volunter but even if its just him painting in the comunity? Or maybe you can get him to go down your allotment and do some manual labour.Tthat way he feels he is contributing to his family (ie helping to grow food) and then you can have a few hours with Bea :D

Claire, what do you use now (linky)? Because if you can afford it get a mrsite. Thats what I used when I sold my cards. Its so simple to do and manage, also you can link it to paypal. After researching apparently its easy to transfer to another provider/site too... Worth a look I think I payed £14.99 for the whole year.

how about looking at the book keeping ones at my place? We've got computerised accounting level 2 and computerised book keeping level 1 coming up from next month as well as level 3 computerised payroll. You'd definitely get concessionary fee if you have WTC or just about any other kind of benefit and those courses qualify for learner support (ie it all paid for) if your household income is under 16k.

For some very bizarre reason I now want to have a go at level 1 computerised book keeping - just to have a go - after invigilating the level 3 the other night but all the courses are during the day :(

I agree - get him down the allotment and digging for all he's worth - might as well make use of the free labour.

Good idea in theory Pap...he needs to do something. Thing is I get mad if he's not looking for a job but IF he spent 4 hours solid every day applying etc I wouldn't have a problem with him doing volunteering, allotment or just getting out and doing some exercise. The problem is he flits around, does bits and bobs and isn't really committed to it anymore. I think as much as he wants a job I think he actually enjoys being able to come and go as he pleases

In CAB we have more men volunteers than women.
A disability based charity is very much the other way.
Volunteering is great as gives peeps something up to date to put on their CV.

Has he got his level 2 in numeracy and litercy (O level or GCSE grade C and above?) If not, these courses are also free from whatever level is needed up to Level 2 which is now recognised as the 'industry' equivalent of O level in maths and english.

I think this is a big problem for people in his circumstances & the longer it goes on the more it becomes a habit.Difficult one me thinks.
