    Another change of plan!
On wednesday we will be having this instead of pork chops. Does anyone think we would need some sort of protein with it, or do you reckon the spelt will be enough? Leeks and artichokes came in the veg box last week, never had jerusalem artichokes so should be interesting :)
Today I am making the sausage casserole, so I can cool and freeze half to do another day, and also assembling the pasta bake for tuesday (sauce is roasted tomato and veg-HM, from the freezer)

    :THi,

Not posted here for a bit - desperately need to. So here goes in no particular order:

Asda hunters chicken (clearly not HM but really nice) and jacket potatoes (or roast) and roast asparagus (was BOGOF in Sains)
Chicken Tikka or Balti chicken (using Patak paste) and tilda quick brown rice
Ham, egg & HM oven wedges (nice ham from Lidl which is ready to be sliced)
Quorn Leek and Cheese bakes (pretend chicken) and roast potatoes, veg, yorkies
Lardon and onion omelette and egg fried rice

That's all till I top with some buys mid/end of the week.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

I think it will depend on howmuch protein you need/like in your meals. I think spelt is quite high in protein for a grain but, if you prefer a higher protein meal, you might want to have something else with it. Can I ask where you got the spelt from? I have only ever had it as flour and would really like to try it as grain.

Oh, and, if you've never had jerusalem artichokes before, do be aware that they can cause digestive upsets. I tried them once and they made me so ill I've never dared try them again! I know other people really like them, though, so don't let me put you off. :)
Back after a very long break!

I have heard about the side effects of artichokes (have read its not so bad when not in soup so fingers crossed!)
The protein is more as OH is typical bloke and loves his meat, I'm happy to have veggie but it just seems a little starchy iykwim, even if spelt is high is protein.
The pearled spelt I got from waitrose, it was near the rice, not the wholefood/pulses section. Haven't seen it anywhere else though.

Thanks - that gives me a good excuse to pop into Waitrose (not that I really need an excuse :o). Hope you enjoy your artichokes!

    Hi,
Been following this for a while so thought i'd pull my finger out to help get organised:
Mon - OH smoked haddock fishcakes chips and peas, smoked salmon and salad for me (on a diet)
Tues - HM crispy beef with broccoli (bbc good food recipe)
Wed - HM cod pie with leeks
Thurs - Gammon, egg and chips/hm wedges
    Fri - away

    K
  • Only just discovered this thread! I meal plan every week so it's nice to know other people do too. My shopping arrives on a Thurs so my week usually starts then but I'll give it a go for this week:

Mon - Sticky gammon steaks, steamed greens & rice (trying Tesco's value gammon steaks for the first time)
    Tues - Tuna/Pasta bake
    Wed - Shepherds Pie
Thurs - Chicken & peppers in mushroom sauce and couscous
    Fri - Pizza night!
Sat - Baked fish in tomato and honey sauce with veg

Breakfast is always cereal and lunch is always a bagel and a yoghurt.
  • I'm late this week, because I had to do a freezer shop at my local Trade shop today to fill the freezers after Christmas - spent £40 but it will last me at least 2 months and it is all meat and fish, £20 a month for all my meat is a bargain.
    So here goes:
    Mon: Chicken and Mushroom Risotto
Tues: Minced meat cobbler with cauliflower and mash
Weds: Minted Lamb chops, roasties, broccoli and carrots
Thurs: Beef Stew, mash and dumplings with brussels
Fri: Beef pie using leftovers from stew with runner beans and roasties
    Sat: Meatballs and pasta
Sun: Chicken breasts sliced and stuffed, wrapped in bacon, broccoli and roast potatoes with gravy
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
