I haven't seen them in wooden boxes personally, but that doesn't mean you're not right. They generally come in either small, round plastic tubs or loose in a plastic bag when I've seen them.
I might have to try and get some when I go shopping this evening - this discussion has left me craving dried figs!

What a fab way to describe them, CCP - "fruit toffee"! I have always thought dates are a bit like fudge so that description works for me!
They are crunchy and sweet, but not overly so, and go great with a cup of coffee and a couple pecans or walnuts for a snack or after a meal. Have you ever had fig rolls, Princess? Oddly enough, I'm not keen on fig rolls, but I am partial to a plain old dried fig. They are very good in a fruit cake/tea loaf/something of that sort

WOW this time of week has really come round fast, freezer is still not looking empty after 2 weeks of meal planning so will have to get my head down over the weekend and see what is lurking in there for it to still be looking so full.
Sunday - SC gammon, pots and veg
Mon - HM Pasta bake (tuna) and garlic bread with side salad
Tues - HM Quiche and jacket pot with side salad
Weds - Turkey, mash and veg
Thurs -SC pork and apples in cider
Fri - Minced beef and onion pie with wedges
Sat - Vegetable stew
Kids have school lunches, OH and i have sandwiches/wraps or left overs for lunch. Breakfasts are cereal.
Will be baking over the weekend to stock up kids box for 'tuck'.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Have been much better at sticking to my meal plan this week with just a couple of minor changes but no takeaways:T. Weekend is OH birthday so eating out both days:eek: but he is 40. My plan for next week.
Sat - Eating out (Marco Pierre White Restaurant in London but managed to get 3 courses for £15:beer:)
Sun - Out with in-laws but have voucher for free champagne:j
Mon - Shepherds Pie
Tues - Slowcooked Chicken Casserole
Wed - Toad in the Hole
Thurs - Chilli Wraps (also need to make chilli with tacos and chilli chocolate for afters for 30 guides as part of DD's guides world thinking day:cool:)
Fri - Meatballs and pasta bake
Breakfasts will be breakfast muffins, pancakes, toast, porridge
Lunches - leftovers, sandwiches, soups and wraps
Snacks - Fruit, Carrot sticks, nuts and whatever is in the cake tin (probably birthday cake)

Saturday – BLTs (going out to a beer festival so need to line the old tummy

Sunday – Lobby
Monday – Oven chips, fish fingers & mushy peas or beans
Tuesday – HM French onion soup, omelette & HM bread
Wednesday – Quiche, HM wedges & HM coleslaw
Thursday – HM Spaghetti Bolognaise
Friday – Left over Bolognaise with baked spuds

Thursday-Friday - I'm away at work event dp and dd having paella and/or calamari (freezer) or takeaway

Oops, have changed my mind already lol
Mo-HFW sausage and root veg stew from River cottage everyday, with curly kale (new recipe)
Tu-tomato and mozzarella pasta bake, salad
We-pork chops, spuds, veg and gravy
Th-spanish chorizo and chicken stew, rice
Fr-OH cooking something-fish I hope
Sa-OH out, I'll probably have omelette or similar, or poss out
Su-either a roast, (chicken probably as really craving one and that then leads to leftovers!!) or steak, dauphinoise potatoes and green beans0 -

Tues: Chick and Lardon pie
Weds: Macoroni Cheese
Thurs: Chick pasta bake
Fri: Delia's Spanish Pork
Sat: Chicken Risotto
Sun: Out for lunch for H's birthday - no cooking - yay!!!

I'm not fully planned yet for next week but won't be going shoppin till thurs. Infact I might ast through till monday if I'm careful although will probably need salad and milk. Here's the plan so far...
Sat - turkey & veg curry with rice (and salad for me as I'm dieting so won't have much rice)
Sun - Tea at OH's parents
Mon - Taco's & salad & potato croquettes
Tues - mushroom burger in a roll & salad or veg
Wed - OH cooking meatballs and pasta from Jamie Oliver's ministry book0 -
Ok, missed the thread when I was browsing yesterday - whoops! Anyway, here's my mealplan chez Kitchenbunny this week:
Mon: Chicken wrapped in bacon with creamy chicken and mushroom pasta
Tues: At Mum's
Weds: Toasted Sandwiches (Using leftover bolognese sauce from tonight's tea)
Thurs: Fajitas
Fri: Minced Beef & Onion pies with potato wedges (making them on Wednesday night)
Sat: Not sure yet
Sun: Sausage Casserole with mash (mmm, comforting)
Lunches will be sandwiches, fruit, and bits of homemade cake. Breakfasts are cereal or flapjacks.
