Claiming for mobile on contents insurance

I managed to kill my mobile phone whilst playing with my children. I was wondering whether i'd be able to claim for a replacement mobile on my contents insurance? I dont have the phone because I binned it, in hindsight it seems it was a daft thing to do. But I do have the proof of purchase from Orange. Would that suffice to get a replacement handset? Thanks.

You will need the IMEI as well as proof of purchase to make a claim, otherwise its a free for fraud world.0

As above, you need proof the phone existed and details of it, usually the phone itself. As contents insurance would not cover loss.
Contents insurance is expensive to claim from too. i think it is a lost cause to claim for it, but you can ask the insurance even if you don't claim.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Rather than pay external insurance for the iPhone I'm thinking of getting tomorrow, I asked my house insurance and they said it's covered only if stolen or lost outside the home. But obviously that's my insurance company. There are some days when even my lucky underpants can't help.0
