  • We just needed the card number to activate it, I would maybe try just now as its probably quieter than what it will be when you return from work.

I would try getting through to the subscription line and ask them to transfer you as you called that number in error:D - worth a try, they can only say no, can't they?
Asked and was told they couldnt, pressed the agent on it and they hung up,girl on phone sounded around 15 and was totally unprofessional, was talking to me like she was talking to her 15 year old chav m8,s.
  • I started this thread last year and can now report that I called Satanta on the number published in the newspapers and asked them to confirm when my annual contract was up. I was told October 14th. (I had managed to talk them into a free 2 months last year on condition of my renewal last August).
I indicated that I was not prepared to pay more than new subscibers and was immediately offered the £9.99 deal beginning 15 October.
Beware though - if you are curently on an annual contract you have to contact Satanta something like 14 days before it expires or they will assume that you wish to stay on that contract for the following year with no option to cancel at 30 days notice.
This opportunity to cancel at 1 months notice is extremely valuable - especially if you are a Celtic fan and Rangers have won the league by February lol.
  • You shouldn't be paying any more than £9.99 a month for sentanta although I understand that they charge some hefty sign up and cancelletion charges. If you do sign up do so with a bank account DD not a credit card as you cannot cancel a credit card DD, only the company that you are buying from can! Stupid but true.

Hi, I purchased a Astratec Setanta Card bundled Freeview box that said it had free connection and first month free. I tried to activate this online but message came up saying I would have to pay £29.98 - connection plus first two months subscription. I don't want to pay that - tried phoning the numbers Setatna gave but got no response. Anyone else have this problem and how did you get around it?

Well i have had the same problem bought a pack from Argos £49.99 included in the pack was a CAM first month free and connection charge tried to activate on line but they wanted £29.99 when it should have been £9.99 so spent an age getting through on the phone eventually spoke to a operator who took the promo code from the Argos pack and confirmred that I owed £9.99 for the second month so set up a DD for that and future payments but after a few days they took £29.99 so again I rang up took ages to get through was told they could not refund as I had to wrote in to claim it so I did that and have just been ignored no reply or acknowagement of my letter I am not pleased you can see were this is going swamping the market to get new subscribers to set up DD then take as much cash as possible while making it almost impossible to get a refund this company will be the next scandle its just waiting to happen. on a brigher note the football is good and quality excellent its a pity the folk who set up the TV quality arnt the same folk who set up customer services I pedict Setanta will soon top the worst Customer service tables and will take money from accounts at will just watch
  • Aldi are advertising a freeview box with Setanta on Thursday price includes connection and first months rent and the viewing card. My mum is thinking of getting it for my dad (they're in their 70's) now I'm worried about all the problems people are having I would hate to see them struggling to sort it or being ripped off - any positive advise or should I tell her to avoid it like the plague!
