As stated above Satalite (Sky) or Terrestial service is currently £10 setup and 9.99 mth. No minimum contract, but you cannot cancel for 30 days and must give 30 days notice, so 2 months minimum. If you cancel and want to resubscribe, the £10 setup is chargeable again, likewise if you are cancelled for defaulting payments. The Satalite service gives 9 channels, S_sports 1, 2 and Ireland, S_Golf, NASN, Racing UK and World, Celtic and Rangers tv, with Liverpool tv to be added shortly. It is rumoured Arsenal are also to join the line-up. Terrestial tv only gives the one channel, for the same price. If you have satalite equipment, that takes a viewing card, but you do not subscribe to Sky, you can still get service, they will send you a viewing card if you need one. (I think for free if subscribing, but check first as Sky charge £20)
For previous customers, we were charged £15/mth with a minimum of 12 mth contract. If you are on this rate, and are now outside your minimum contract period, call them and ask to be continued at the £9.99 rate, supposedly for new customers only. Setanta will not automatically reduce your bills, but will do it from your next payment if asked. I would also ask for payments to be taken monthly by direct debit, rather than paying annually as you can't cancel and get a refund if you need to stop the service for any reason. Although it may not be illegal, I think this is immoral, as many customers (not here though), will subscribe and unknowingly carry on paying a higher rate needlessly. Note the above rate are for Setanta Sports in the UK. I think Northern Ireland have or at least had, different rates as with the Republic.0 -

We have sentanta on free view and so far its okay, if they dont agree to cancel properly than we can just cancel the direct debit anyway. Plus we wont be charged £10 for canceling because they charge a month in advance in order to avoid paying extra.** Mummy to little Jenna born on 23/12/07 **

Hi, I purchased a Astratec Setanta Card bundled Freeview box that said it had free connection and first month free. I tried to activate this online but message came up saying I would have to pay £29.98 - connection plus first two months subscription. I don't want to pay that - tried phoning the numbers Setatna gave but got no response. Anyone else have this problem and how did you get around it?D'Oh!0

We had to phone Setanta about it for it to be activated. And you will get your free connection and free month but will have to pay £9.99 as a payment for a month in advance. Apparantly its standard procedure for them to charge a month in advance when you first sign up.** Mummy to little Jenna born on 23/12/07 **

Thanks sugarcubed. Can you tell me if you needed to be by the box when you phoned or not? I might try and ring from work if you don't need to be next to the box to activate it.D'Oh!0
