I received my subscription renewal letter today. Fees (£180) have increase 50% from last year - no early bird discount, no discount for paying annually in advance.
I have no intentions of continuing this year. However, when I phoned to intimate that I do not wish to subscribe for the forthcoming year, I was offered 3 months at £7.50 per month.
You have to verbally set up a direct debit and give 30 days notice before the time is up to prevent yourself being locked into an annual agreement. Be sure to ask for the date when you should phone to cancel as it appears to be only 1 month into the 3 months "contract".
Well worth the phone call.

It's a bit of a worry that Setanta have increased their prices even before they start broadcasting Premiership games. I wonder how much it will cost then. I doubt I'll be subscribing.0

My mum and dad signed up for Setanta about a month or two ago. It's meant to be for at least 12 months but I don't know if they can get an early 'out' because of the price increases.
I couldn't make head nor tail of the fine print they showed me yesterday, so does anyone know whether they can get out early? Or, failing that should they be able to get the remainder of the first year for the price that was advertised when they were signing up?
Thanks in advance.0 -
Pastmaster, do you know what the monthly cost will be after the first 3 months at £7.50 if you wanted to re-start after you cancelled.0

IF you do sign up, DO IT ON DIRECT DEBIT , NOT CREDIT CARD. It is then easier to cancel. They have some VERY unpleasant people working for them and porkie pies appear to be part of the training programme. Be prepared for hassle if you want to cancel.0

The blurb says no minimum contract with freeview. I tried to cancel my account over the weekend - when I eventually got through on the phone, the assistant told me that you can only cancel during office hours Monday to Friday. So I phoned this morning at about 11am - recorded message said "we are very busy, phone back later" and the call was cut off. I tried another 3 times and finaly got to talk to someone at 4pm - assistant now told me that I have to cancel by writing to them- I told him that I had also emailed them my cancellation and asked to speak to a supervisor - he told me he was transferring me to the cancellations dept but the xxxhole just put me back on the music. At this rate they must be very attractive for takeover by that other "agreeable" broadband provider TorqueTorque!0

i have signed up to setanta, as an add on with my sky package. This was for the main reason that prem plus is no longer, and setanta have the rights this season.
i had to pay a one off charge of 19.99, and each month after this is 9.99, i can cancel at any time i like giving them 30 days notice.
i hope this helps

I wish you luck in cancelling with them.
3 days of ringing... 13 phone calls... about an hour altogether on hold to closed departments or numbers that just cut off the phone call (on a premium rate number I might add)... 2 complaints to managers and my contract still isn't cancelled.
I'm absolutely fuming with Setanta.

As a extra bit of info, Setanta is much better value through Sky, as you get about 8-9 channels for 9.99.
Freeview you get 1 channel for 9.99.Quotes in context only please.0 -
