How much does your Cat/Kitten eat?

The guidelines are so varied that I'm just learning by trial and error I think :o

My eldest kitten has had a few tummy upsets recently so after a bit of reading I ordered a food4cats raw starter pack & some bozita food that I'm still waiting for.

I was wondering if a few of you would let me know how much you feed your cats/kittens to kind of reassure me :o

Charlie is 6 months old and Harry is about 5 months (rescue kitten). So if anyone has kittens around this age I'd be really interested to know how much you feed them :)

The raw food arrived yesterday and its in a sausage shaped bag. I gave a third of one between them and they wolfed it down but wanted more. so I gave them a tiny bit more & they were fine :)

I'm hoping to give them Bozita in the morning, some dry in the afternoon and the raw of an evening.

Does that sound like an ok combination??

I'd like to do all raw but I've not the confidence in ensuring they get the right amounts of everything - I read so much the other night that I ended up ever so kerfuddled :rotfl:
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Pepsi eats 3 pouches of Whiskas a day, and has no dry food. This is what it says on the back of the packets, but OH says I'm overfeeding her. I think that's ok though, if she had any less she'd be crying for food all the time. I have no idea how much raw to feed though, I'm sure someone will abe along soon to advise :)
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

Thanks. Both of mine were being fed that when I got them but it just doesn't seem to suit Charlie. As well as it costing a fortune

I'm hoping raw will produce less smelly poo and less of it!!!

Mine eat about 250g of food per day. I feed very similar to what you're planning - bozita/feline fayre pouches in the morning (85g), dry food during the day (about 100g each) & then raw at night (70g+). I used to weigh the dry & raw at the start to ensure I was feeding enough, but I can now eye it up no problems!

Great to hear your kittens love raw! :D Which dry are you feeding?

If you feed the Food4Cats sausages these are complete so you don't need to worry about getting all the nutrients, you also don't need to panic about every day being perfect as long as most days contain a balance of nutrition. It's not normally advised to feed raw and dry on the same day as they take different times to be digested but if yours seem fine that is up to you.

Noah is a large adult male of 6.5kg but indoor so not much exercise! He has either half a Food4Cats sausage (200g) per day OR one pouch Feline Fayre plus 50g Orijen plus a treat OR one tin (160g) Purely plus 50g Orijen. Treats are half a chicken wing, couple of cubes rabbit, 50g frozen prawns OR a raw egg with VIYO milk. I do weigh and measure everything so I can keep an eye on Noah's weight. :o

The dry is just some pets at home complete that I am using up...it was buy one get one free...I've only got a tiny bit in the bag and wont be buying it again!

If the Food4Cats 'sausages' are complete then I'm happy just to feed them that and the Bozita when it arrives.

Do you alternate your days Firefox- raw every other day?

OMG - if Noah has half a sausage in a whole day I think I need to cut back on my kitten feeding or I'm going to end up with elephants :o:rotfl:

WAsn't so keen on the rabbit fur from the first wild rabbit 'sausage' being chucked into the water bowl....doesn't really suit my vegetarian head :rotfl:

But they LOVE it - and that's what counts :)

Thanks for the pics, they look very happy together! :D

The P@H complete is better than many, the only reason I asked is you were hoping to improve the poop situation which probably means avoiding grains. Noah has raw for two days straight to use up a whole sausage fresh, then a couple of days of fishy food plus dry, but I am not strict about it depends on what I have got in stock! He should really eat less fish, but I got a lot of FF on special offer. :o

Kittens are supposed to eat more than an adult as they are growing, and most will regulate their own food intake. I have to measure for Noah as he is GREEDY and is at the top of his weight. He is naturally a large cat and the vet is happy but he is also LAZY, your kittens will be racing about no doubt. :j

Think I've been lucky with my cats' as I've never felt a need to weigh their food.
Mine are both 13 year old females. Don't know what they weigh, but a rough guess would be....Daisy is probably somewhere around 7 1/2lbs and Chloe around 8lbs, I think.
They get roughly 2/3 of a 400gm (so around 250gms) of a food4cats pack between them a day.
They are indoor cats, so not particularly active.

As FF says though, yours are growing and active, so will likely need more than [strike] bone idle [/strike] sedate adults, like mine :D
