should i just make double from a roast and freeze it?
That's what I do Phizzimum :). I don't usually make double but there's usually a bit leftover so I freeze it for when we want gravy but no roast. Or, I make onion gravy. I generally have hm stock in the freezer so it tastes pretty meaty. If I do use stock cubes I go for Kallo brand. These are free from questionable ingredients but I'm not sure whether or not they contain yeast.

Has your 'intolerance' been diagnosed by a doctor? If it has, then you could ask for a referral to a dietician. Dieticians are employed by the NHS to advise on this kind of problem and it would be tailored specifically to your needs.

Unfortunately despite several years of agony the NHS don't test for intolerances so I went to Allergy Uk who recommended a company that does a blood test for intolerances (I also discussed it with my gp). The difference to the daily pain I had has been amazing and as part of the test I had a consultation with a nutritionist who recommended certain products to avoid and I was doing ok but found I got in a rut of eating the same boring food every day:o

I am going to get some cookery books, I have only really started to home cook since I have had children so am a bit of a novice but I am getting there. It is mostly the "treats" I am missing and whilst i am more than happy to lose weight I want to be running on enough energy to look after my children aswell.:)

    Thanks for all the suggestions

I'm dairy-free too.I have been for years, and can tell if there is even a small amount of dairy in my food. My skin itches in a very particular fashion.

I keep thinking I ought to go wheat free as I know I get carb slump and munchies after eating bread and white pasta.

I've had no support from any of my GPs. I've specifically asked for diet advice, and given a funny look. Lovely.:o My first GP said I had Irritable Bowel, and dismissed the idea of dairy intolerance. AFter talking to other doctors (not GPs ), the general consensus is that IBS is a lazy diagnosis: a catch-all that doesn't actually mean anything.

I stick to rice milk. Soya milk is ugh, though the yoghurts are Ok. But they give me the burps!

I was diagnosed with IBS.....a few tests to rule out anything more serious and that was my diagnosis. I feel like I have more energy and also less "problems" during the day and no pain so it is a great improvement for me.
I agree that some doctors are very dismissive of any intolerances and are only interested in allergies but the difference in my condition speaks for itself:T

It is very frustrating as I could have easily changed my diet to exclude either yeast or dairy but both eliminates alot of food:mad:
I have to exclude yeast completely for 3 months then slowly re-introduce once every 4 days to see whether I react and then I may be able to eat yeast in moderation (fingers crossed) and dairy I have to avoid for 9 months then re-introduce in moderation every 4 days (have been advised that if I react straight away to then try lacto free and I may not react to this)

I am hoping this will help and that in the long run I can re-introduce these items in moderation

I start my 3 months of no yeast tomorrow too. I was diagnosed with yeast intolerance plus cow milk intolerance. NO beer nor bread for 3 months sounds hard but if it reduces my nightly stomach pains it will be worth it. Has anyone found a good website that actually helps with food items that are safe?
