Hey guys - well luckily I missed their first visit today! They didn't leave forms to show them my income.
They left a letter saying it was now £464.76 and if I could pay £105.76 today (which I dont have) and to call the bailiff immediately.
Cant wait to get to the CAB tomorrow, have felt like a prisoner at home all weekend :SRoseyMarie

Meeting at the CAB went really well, the bloke was really good - he rang the council and they said they'd be happy to merge my 2 c/tax debts (inc the one with Rossendales) and for me to pay £14.08 a month!!! and then all that is left on the budget he did is £1 per creditor - although I think the household stuff he put is a good £100 over so in theory I think I could pay everyone the minimum payments they wanted....
He also said I could apply for a DRO as unless I get a job my income is not going to change in the next year - that'd mean as long as it didn't change for the year at the end of the year I'd get the £3300 written off. Would still have the £800 council tax but that would continue at the 14 per month...
That lot make sense? any advice??
Also in the stuff about the DRO it says that you must not have preferred any creditors over others in the last 2 years...what does that actually mean?
I was paying one a whopping £75 a month (the rest roughly £20) when I was working as this is what they were demanding...is that showing preference?
Thanks again!!!!RoseyMarie

glad it went well for you.
dont know anything about the dro......others will be along with their expert advice on that soon im sure but i know nothing,lol!0 -
Hi rosey, that's great news that the council will be taking it back and have arranged a payment plan. I'm hoping that they send something in writing though so that you have proof of what is agreed - if you don't hear anything within a couple of weeks, ask for confirmation of the current repayment agreement. Just so that if anyone comes knocking, you can send them away without any hastle.
I don't know much about FRO's, but here's some information on it. Can't really say about the preference area but i'm hoping it won't be an issue. Might also be worth asking the nationaldebtline about this.

Thankyou! I think if the £75 is not 'showing preference' then I'm gonna go for it. WIll give the guy a call tomorrow to discuss it xRoseyMarie

Not necessarily. You would have to pay your 2010/2011 council tax but any of the 09/10 and earlier arrears that are already the subject of a liability order (and it sounds like £440 is) go in to the DRO and are discharged at the end of the morotorium period - it's in section 7 of the guidance to DRO intermediaries.0 -
Oh really? I thought it was the non-priority debts only...the whole 800 c/tax is from previous property!RoseyMarie

Then the whole £800 goes in. But you're still liable for the ongoing CTax on your current property.
And if it's a joint debt - they can still pursue the other party.
Why did they only get a liability order on £440 of the £800 debt from a previous property?0 -

Basically it means you are treating all your creditors equally/fairly not showing a preference to one over another. So for example, that would mean not paying more to that debt to Great Aunt Maud than to a credit card or store card debt just because she is related to you.Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. Because one lot was mine and my mothers and one lot is mine and a friends who moved in with me when my Mum moved out!
I haven't intentionally shown preferance to one creditor over another, I have paid them all on and off over the last 2 years, some months if one of them was hassling me I might've paid them and not another....thats whats worrying me :SRoseyMarie
