They keep suspending my online access at the drop of a hat but it resumes after they send an email and the 24hrs "suspension" passes.

What a nightmare elektra! And their solution is just nonsense. What does 'proof' mean? You could dream up any old letter from a 'relative' if the money were actually dodgy. How are they going to know it's genuine?

I wouldn't bank with Halifax if they were the last institution on this earth :mad:.
I had similar problems last year after using their telephone banking to check a balance on one of my regular savings accounts. I spoke to someone in their Irish call centre and I think I must have got Father Dougal instead of Father Ted :rolleyes:
I had a number of accounts with them and although I had all the security details necessary he blocked my account because I could not answer just one of his (Fr Dougal's) so called 'security' questions. The question was: "Can you tell me the balance on your regular savings account?" My reply: "As I've just said, that's what I am calling to find out!" He then said: "You have failed to answer a security question so I am blocking your accounts."
I then had to trail down to the branch - not easy being disabled, only to be told that they would not accept my driving license because it didn't have a photo on it. I had my birth certificate, driving license, utility bill and credit card (not Halifax) but had to return home to get my passport and go back yet again :mad:.
I had great pleasure in closing all my accounts and moving to Allied and Leicester. Best day's work I've done in ages since Halifax make imbecility an art form :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Well, it's my job and I do it, so don't see why I shouldn't suggest it (it isn't always 'he' by the way). The branch is my responsibility so that includes customer issues too. It's rare that people make an appointment to see me as the only time people need a manger tends to be when they are upset/worried or annoyed about something so they don't want to wait, they come straight in. I would certainly expect staff to come to me about something like this when they aren't getting anywhere with head office/other departments.0 -

Some banks now send emails for certain things - like new statements being available to view online. They never provide a link to logon with they just tell you to logon to your account how you usually would.0 -

They never provide a link to logon with they just tell you to logon to your account how you usually would.I once got a genuine email from the Halifax which I was so surprised about I forwarded it to the email address that will tell you if it is phishing or genuine. They replied to say it was not genuine and to delete it. It was only when I went into the branch that I found it was genuine. Hardly inspires confidence, does it?
