Would a fitter really risk instant dismissal and a criminal record for stealing a sky box, when the old box is not really worth much anyway?

Well it seems from regular sellers flogging the stuff on eBay, that many do.

No way of knowing the reasons for the walking boxes but it simply a fact that it happens.
Obviously if a box breaks or is upgraded whilst still under contract the Sky fitters often swap boxes, are they getting confused? who knows.

Thanks my post was poorly worded it is indeed yours from day 1, my thinking was the Engineers will often be swapping boxes in the first 12months, but after that there is no reason for it to be going back to the van.

Managed to get quite a good deal out of them in the end

They are going to send us a box for £30 for us to install ourselves plus they are giving us 25% off our bill for the next 6 months. Im assuming this is off the TV package so will save us almost £50.
