Anyone flown ryanair with an infant?

Their website says you're allowed to take a pushchair for 'free' when you book an infant seat but any other equipment you have to pay for.

Does anyone know how this would work with a pushchair that has the car seat on it? We're planning on taking the Quinny zapp with the car seat so would we have to pay for the car seat? Or what if we chose not to take a pushchair but just the car seat, would we still have to pay for that?

  • Can the pushchair be folded with the car seat inside it? If not it will almost certainly count as 'other equipment'. This is because you can push the chair to the steps of the plane and fold it, where ground handling staff will then carry it round to the hold for you.

No it has to come off to fold it but it is a required part of the pushchair. I am expecting to pay extra but I was hoping not too, it's so expensive considering she doesn't even get a seat.

However, one fully collapsible pushchair per child is carried free of charge and does not need to be prebooked. I

I had the Quinny Buzz and took the pram only but not the travel system.

Just make sure you go to check in to get a tag for it, whilst they do still give them at the gate i forgot a couple of times and got the wrath of Ryanair Trolley Dolleys more than once.

Not sure if Ryanair allow this but I would take an empty holdall and then at the steps collapse the buggy and put it in the bag. Their T&Cs says "one fully collapsible pushchair per child " it does not say that when it is collapsed it has to be in one piece.

  • We have flown with Ryanair a number of times with 2 infants!!! I would say that it would need to fold and be in one piece. I also recommend the bag option, to avoid the "roughness" of the airport handling people!

I recommend paying the £10/E10 fee each way for some infant equipment rather than having to stump up £40 or whatever the fee is, if they refuse it at the gate.
