Problem with computer rebooting and losing cookies

This is really two problems, the first I have been battling with for some time. I assume the processor becomes overheated, perhaps when using too many systems. I notice it often happens when downloading multiple P2P files but this may be coincidence.
The second is that when this happens, records of the some or all of the passwords need to be re-entered. I have tried saving the cookies in a different file, however I am unsure which file the computer uses for passwords. I have assumed it is the cookie files with the latest date but they all seem to be still there. Are they contained in the associated DAT file in the same directory which are difficult to view and edit?

My computer had been seeming to overheat then reboot recently. I discovered that it was due to AVG on a Windows 7 machine. Maybe you have the same setup...?0

Explorer 8 just updated from 6 a few weeks ago, but had this problem for years, changing the browser has made no difference.0

I am getting a potentially unwanted program warning from AVG after downloading this0

I can assure you, it's safe - A pup isn't a virus, it's just highlighting the fact that it reveals passwords.
Some viruses use similar code to lift the passwords, so it's a false positive.
Here's a scan with loads of virus scanners, note that most of the better engines know it's iepassview/nirsoft/pup rather than a virus, or don't identify (kaspersky/nod/trend etc) it as bad at all.

Yes as far as I see it just displays the passwords (which would be a severe security problem for those sharing computers) it doesn't actually replace them back in store. I already have these passwords encrypted anyway its just the inconvenience of typing them out every time the computer reboots by itself. I was hoping I could just replace the cookies but obviously its more complicated than that.0

You wanted to know where passwords were saved, it will tell you the passwords stored in pstores, where IE stores it's passwords, if these are not the passwords you are referring to, it must be cookies, in which case, have you set IE to clean them up, or have something like ccleaner installed?!!

No, he doesn't need to find out what the passwords are - he knows that already. You wanted to know where passwords were saved, it will tell you the passwords stored in pstores, where IE stores it's passwords, if these are not the passwords you are referring to, it must be cookies, in which case, have you set IE to clean them up, or have something like ccleaner installed?
The issue is that when he goes to websites, IE is not filling in the saved passwords - its like it has forgotten that he ever asked it to save the password.
OP - I'm surprised you say you get the same issue with other browsers - other browsers have completely different ways of storing saved passwordspoppy100 -
Did you actually read my post? Where did I say this is so the OP can find out what the passwords are?
FYI, I understand the issue.!!
