Jut had water statement, seems very low!

Options
Hi, had our water statement today and I think it seems really rather low! Maybe I am wrong! We're in Stoke on Trent in a 3 bed end of terrace with 2 showers, never have baths, not THAT frugal when it comes to water but we do turn taps off when brushing teeth, washer is used on quick wash and about 4 times a week,3 loo's,only flush loo for a no.2 etc, just common sense really. 3 adults in house.

Bill for period 15/07/09 to 29/01/2010

balance brought forward from last bill £101.28
payments or ajustments made since last bill £174.30CR

TOTAL £73.08CR

summary of charges:

latest read 246(M)
previous read 203(M)
volume 43 cubic meters

used water = £36.28

rest is supply and drainage etc, total bill £126.68

Amount owed £53.66

your DD of £34.86 will be taken as usual 10/02/10

CC limits £26000

Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

    Are you with Severn Trent?

I think you will find that 'Used water' is for drainage; and about £0.90 per cu meter is correct.

However as you say 43 cu mtrs is very low for 3 adults.

Yes it seems nice and low for your household.

The previous occupants of our house 1 adult plus 1 teenager used 42.5 units and we (two adults) used 15 units this period but I'm trying to raise water saving to an art form.

  • Just mind your health though, for the sake of a few pence don't skimp too much.
Seriously, flush the toilet after a wee and wash hands or you will use a lot more water when you have diarrhoea and being sick.

This may be stating the obvious; but did you check your meter reading?
I recently had a bill for one cubic metre which was clearly down to an incorrect reading, although not thought strange by the water company.

    I disagree...

If it's yellow let it mellow
If it's brown flush it down.

ALWAYS wash your hands of course, thats basic infection control. What is/isn't sitting in the toilet aint going to make that much difference to your health as long as you have an occassional flush every few pee's!!
