VENT Put off booking holiday by smell of Travel agent staff

Hi.
Went to a major travel agent in St Helens to get some ideas for our wedding in Thailand next year. Upon arriving at the second travel agents on our tour we were approached by a "customer service manager" asking if he could help.
This had happened in the previous store and the agent there was most knowledgable, pleasant and well turned out, so we spent about 5 mins or so getting ideas and she left us with some brochures to take home.
I dont mean to be rude but this chap absolutely stank. Not of nice aftershave, coffee, or even something he had just eaten but of sweat and body odour. Add this to the fact that his teeth didnt look like they had seen a toothbrush since new year the smell of his breath was dreadfull too.
I know I might come across as nasty but I am not. If we felt this uncomfortable I feel sorry for his co workers.
As it is we are looking at spending about £5k. Do I really want to go and sit with this fella for around half an hour finalising everything..... Let me think......
This one persons hygiene has just cost his company a lot of money.
Do they not have standards for customer facing staff, and also how is he a customer service manager!
Just needed to get that off my chest, ahh better now

Were you planning on taking Stinky with you on holiday?0

I used to work with a guy like that. No one wanted to tell him so we had to put up with it for ages!0

Booking online means you get to avoid the great unwashed! You will probably save a good 10% of that "£5k" you plan on spending - beer money eh?Official SOS Club number 011 - Dry until 17/11/20090

Maybe the random smelly travel agents other half :rotfl:
(if they have one!)
Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Name the company.
People like this in customer service role, don't deserve jobs. Their presentation and professionalism is a key factor in the companies success. As a manager he should be leading by example, not taking a quick Spanish shower in the morning.
There's plenty more people out there that would want his job.
Name the company, take a stance, maybe someone will take note.My farts hospitalize small children0 -
Dreamy,
Whilst I think it is wrong for him not to take pride in his own hygiene I wouldn't feel right about naming him/the store on an internet forum.
Also the smell was so bad I actually left the store when my phone rang, wheras normally I have the manners to cancel the call, or answer it and politley make an excuse.
With this in mind there is NO WAY that his superiors/colleagues do not notice this on a regular basis, surely they should be the ones to take action and I wouldn't want to be the one firing the bullets.
I purely came on here to vent, I dont for one minute want anyone to lose their job, but it would be good if he had a shower and brushed his teeth:o0 -
