Under DSR you cant use the product you can only inspect it this is why we have DSR because it lets consumer see a product like in shops

That is still somewhat ambiguous, you could argue that in a shop you could try the item.

For arguments sake, a TV would most likely be switched on in a shop.

No, they haven't changed the spec ... It states the 'free windows upgrade' when you google 'samsung np-r519' ... (the one mentioned in the post is a different laptop... mine's has 4gb ram and 500gb rom) you see it against the listing for oyyy.co.uk.... And, the customer support lady knew exactly why I was phoning !!!!

Anyway... I decided not to leave it at that - I telephoned Samsung as well and they said that I should email the windows 7 upgrade people and see if they can help. I might wait along time... I then decided to try and enter the details again onto the upgrade site and it accepted them this time... but I had to pay £17..... that might be for postage and packing etc.... so all is well that ends well, as I have just received an email this morning that they have taken the payment so that means they are shipping me the upgrade.....

This was all 'no thanks' to 'oyyy' - which spoiled the pleasure of having bought a new laptop...

    Just for reference:

I have started to install all my software and I am now having great fun... It will take me years to put everything back on !! - It's a beautiful machine - the only design fault (for me) is that the usb ports are all on the left so it means my mouse cable gets in the way.... I have to remember to put it to the back of the machine...

I can't use wireless as my wireless network seems to interfere with it..... Anyway, I am off now - happy as a pig in s***

    Cheers

I think all the "free ugrade" deals involved pretty extortionate P&P (iirc one manufacturer was charging £26).

Don't forget that the best way to do the upgrade is with a full install so not worth installing all your stuff yet.

Glad to hear that you are all sorted.

Thanks for your advice kwikbreaks - I had problems with loading on some of my software so I have stopped now and i will wait for the upgrade. I'll just instal some stuff that I need in the meantime....

    cheers
