If previous Rover Turbo Diesel engines are anythign to go by, you will be fine!! I had a Rover 420Sdi (the intercooled one), and even though the engine was a bit noisier than the equivalent Golf/Peugeot, the engine has so much more acceleration and torque, yet it pulled out similar economy figures.

100k is nothing to a Diesel, provided that its got full service history and more importantly had the oil changed on a regular basis. Sometimes It's actually better to buy a 3 or 4 year old car with 100k miles than one with 10k!, since it means that the higher milage car has probably been used daily - possibly for motorway driving, compared to the lower milage one whose milage reflects that it may only have been used for short trips .

A lot of taxi's clock up well over 250k these days, so 100k is nothing. Just check the service history and look for those oil changes!.

The CDTi engines fitted in the 75 are BMW units - not rover so should prove to be reliable. I dont really know the car myself, but on the whole 75 owners are a happy bunch, an dthe cars are well built, however I have heard a few storys about parts availability - think there was one in autoexpress a few weeks back about a couple who couldnt buy a door for a 25 after an accident.

100K is not an issue, but it would help if you gave us some details regarding price / age service history etc?

the MGZT 135 with the BMW 2 litre diesel engine in it. Very happy with it, a lot of car for little money, good fuel economy too.

As for buying from a company which no longer make cars - most dealers offer independant 3 year warranties and there are more than enough parts to cover the next 10 years (see xpart)

thanks for all the help folks,

a bit more about the car,

    It was a 2002 mg zt 135 cdti + with 100,000miles on the clock.£5,500.
In regards to Service history, i think it has the majority of stamps, although not all from MG dealers.

Ive certainly not been put off by the fact that the company has now gone bust. Just need to know whether this engine is going to run, run and run. hopefully!!

Just wondering - do all the the Diesel engines come from BMW engineering, if not - how can i find out?

thanks again - your comments have been thanked!!!!!!

Yes, all the 75 diesel engines are BMW. Service history is important with diesel, so the fact that they are not all MG stamps would not bother me, but I would want to see a full set of stamps of some kind.

The price is a little high - a quick look on autotrader revealed quite a few 2003 models with 80 - 100K for this price, but if you could get it down a little to £5K looks about the right price.
