IBM VM/370 the original Virtual Machine, mind you I did think REXX was 30 years ahead of its time for an interpreted language, and IBM assembly language was my lingua franca, Ahhh they were the days except 327x terminals :rotfl::rotfl:

Wot no Solaris?
Windows 7 is pretty damn good, has should allow greater cofiguration so you can strip it down to the basics for better performance, and it has a few REALLY annoying bugs.
XP is a bit old and the 64-bit version was useless, but is otherwise the most reliable OS Microsoft have produced. Ubuntu is awful (although everyone else seems to like it), but Arch Linux is pretty damn cool, if a bit fiddly to tweak.
It's easy to try out a few OSes, and even easier/safer if you use something like VirtualBox to install them as a virtual machine inside your existing OS.0 -

Only really into windows machines (having been an Amiga user years ago and taking ages to convert I now want to stick with the masses!).
I still think XP is excellent but of course times change and I've moved onto Windows 7. I think 7 is great - the change is not enough to make things difficult, but obviously after years of XP I'm not as proficient with 7 yet.0 -
XP for me, on 5 out of 6 machines in the house
...the other one is vista
would love to try 7, but don't have:-
a. spare funding, and
b. spare machine powerful enough
to try it on....if it wasn't for a. I'd replace vista on the lappy with 7......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Still havent got round to trying W7 yet so dont know - Not so keen on vista for the reason they changed things around that you got used to from 95,98,2000,Me and XP - Looking for a folder or or application and they changed the name . . .
Have used Ubuntu a little but not enough to really get down and funky with it.
Although I still liked the ZX81 operating system - now that never answered back with a "Windows has encountered a problem and needs to shut down because YOU SUCK", no it just quietly froze and nuked its program out of its memory.:D
Ahh 3D monster maze - The original FPS game :rotfl:Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
