Going to Aus
Hi peeps,
My contract is due to end with T-mobile this month and I dont know whether I should renew it or not.
I am going to australia in November for 5mnths so I dont really see the point in taking out a new contract and paying £20 a month. I was thinking that I should just do a sim only pay as you go thing. I currently have a Samsumg E720. Does anyone know if this can be unlocked? Also, does anyone know if i can use this phone in Aus?
OR even better, does anybody know of any contracts that allow you to use ur monthly free min/txts abroad?
I am a bit confused about what to do, so any advice would be much appreciated, thanks for your help

Welcome
Unless you have been on a cashback deal and now want to avoid paying full price, then allowing the T-mobile just to extend would be ok: it doesn't naturally end unless you give notice.
If you chose a Vodafone contract here, then registering for their Passport scheme would allow use of your inclusive minutes abroad, when roaming on a Vodafone network, with a 75p connect fee per call. But for the length of time you are there, I'm sure the 75p fees would really mount up and work out more expensive, so I wouldn't consider a new contract here to overlap that period away.
For Australia, local SIM info including network links can be found at http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/australia.html
It takes a bit of effort to work out all the tariff options.
For calls to UK, get a calling card to use via a local access number from the mobile, or freephone access from landlines. For long calls to/from family, you might consider also having 2 Vodafone UK SIMs, yours on Passport, the other on Stop-the-clock. Then an off-peak call from the UK to you costs 15p + 75p for up to an hour.0 -
may be worth getting a free incoming roaming simcard

It may, but calls will be double the price of what I suggested. Vodafone Australia IDD rates to UK are about 14 pence a minute, and a local call with calling card a bit cheaper.
Other resellers of the Isle of Man simcards have lower rates0 -
texts are 4 for 1 when roaming on o2 so get a large text contract bundle to text home, get everyone to call your payg voda passport sim @ 75 p per callIf I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:0
