o2 are aboce the law Apprently!!

Hi,
Ive been a victim of ID theft!! I've had a number of mobile phone contracts taken out in my name with Orange, Three, T-mobile and Vodafone, as well as two seperate contracts with O2!
I found out that this started at the end of may beginning of june last year, when these companies started sending me letters. I went to my bank and they advised me to go to the police. The police and my bank have stated that it's an obvious case of freud.
Orange, Vodafone, Three and T-mobile have cancelled these contracts and took the words from my bank and the police. They sais that they are sorry for the trouble that it has caused. However O2 have decided not to cancel these contracts because they are not freud!
The police officer dealing with my case, also phoned up o2 with my presence and spoke to them, but o2 still wasn't accepting that it was freud.
Despite numerous amounts of telephone calls (at my parents expensies) i have told o2 that this isn't my problem and that it has nothing to do with me, they are still not cancelling them! I have had countless letters from o2 and there debt colectors (5) with threats that they are going to take my parents belongings, take me to court and if i pay so much off they will think about cancelling the debts.
I've told o2 that i have a log reference number as well as a reference number for the Financial Onbudsman Services, but this still isn't enough evidence!!!
Its come to the point now where im scared to come back home to find letters from another debt collector or solicitor
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me

    Sorry reading it wrong.

So you have have had all these contracts taken out in your name by someone else?

Let them chase you to court then and let the judge tell o2 to p off.

Have a word with consumer direct (trading standards), they will help to draft a letter to o2 http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/ or they will give you guidance as to what you should be doing to resolve this before court.

I wonder if O2 can see a believable pattern in the calls made on the phone. I would ask O2 to send all data they hold using the data protection act, You will probably have to pay them a tenner or something.

Then at least you can see who you are supposed to have telephoned.

Do you think these were signed up online or in a store (I know on orange/three online you are required to pay £1 by credit or debit card in the account holders name I'd check your cards etc)

Its bound to be online fraud. The way I figure it banks and retailers could do more to prevent this (and save themselves some money) - obviously for banks its peanuts. But for retailers, they could do some extra checks like calling or writing to people before sending out phones / or more emphasis on courier obtaining signatures from account holders (take their photo :D).

So many ways so many ideas I am full of them I am...

I would ignore 02, and claim costs against them for damages if they report incorrect information to your credit file as well as having to appear in court.

You have your bank, police and other network operators on your side. By not stopping the account 02 are just leaving themselves open to costs.

The other thing you could do is politely ask the other operators for a letter detailing the confirmation of fraud, be open and state that 02 are failing to recognise this as a case of fraud regardless of the information provided by the bank and police so far. You are hoping that by more than one operator showing it is fraud that maybe 02 will listen.

Talking to OFCOM is a further option.
