whatever backhanders went on behind closed doors to quash any chance we had of reclaiming is a joke. i understand and share the anger of the people on this forum. our taxes bail out the banks and this is how they treat us?? but we wont get anywhere taking on the banks on our own in individual court cases and the banks dont care if they lose the odd customer. what we need is to teach them a lesson. why dont we take a leaf out of egypts book. they managed to topple one of the longest dictators, which was spakred by a facebook group. Briatin as a nation is afr too soft. start a campaign on facebook to boycott one or two major intstitutions. its easy to move bank accounts these days and incentives are often on the table to do so. if one or two of the major players are targeted and start losing customers in their hundreds, preferrably thousands, then they will have to sit up and take note. Facebook can potentially reach millions. lets hit them where it hurts...in their pockets like they have done to us!!!!0

Had a great result from Santander, through the Ombudsman who ruled in my favour, got a cheque from them for £7,802 from 2002 until present day. All due to the peoples champion Martin and his great web-site. Many many thanks.0

You won't. It isn't what you want to hear, but it is unfortunately the case.
Banks only have to refund charges if they feel it is appropriate as a response to financial hardship. This means that even if they uphold you are in hardship, they are no obligation to refund a single charge.Best Regards

...but thanks for advise is there anything i can do like use a company o something"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Halifax, students account
Claimed: £232
Received:£382
My daughter has a student's bank account with Halifax. After exceeding here agreed overdraft in May 2010 they started adding charges like there were no tomorrow - paid item fees, unpaid item fees, interest... She tried to rectify it straight away, but their fees pushed here deeper and deeper into the red. In OCtober I used martin's standard letter to complain and they wrote back with a three page letter refusing to agree to any of the points but offering £47.
I didn't accept and said that unless I hear from them again I will take it to the ombudsman. They didn't reply, so I did.
Yesterday we had a letter from Halifax (March 2011) not only offering to repay all the fees and suppressing any further fees until June, but also giving her £150 for not replying to our second letter. Thank you Martin, and thank you ombudsman!0
