Hi all, first post alert!
I have moved house this week and I cant seem to get regular broadband deals!
When I enter my postcode in the checkers for say.. O2 or SKY, I am told that I cant get the regular deals
sky, i can only get broadband connect @ £17 PM!!
o2, "Based on the information BT have given us about your landline, you are outside O2's Broadband network coverage area but we are able to offer you our alternative O2 Home Broadband Access package."
This is £17.50 PM!
rather than the £5 and £7 deals about for mid packages!
Is anyone else in the same boat and has found a cheaper alternative!?
or am I stuffed!
thanks
Dave

This just means that neither O2 nor Sky have an LLU presence in your exchange. There is nothing stopping you getting your ADSL connection from any of the myriad of other suppliers that only require a standard BT line. E.G. Plusnet, BT, Zen, etc have a look here for a large range of suppliers and their pricesThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Are there any LLU providers on your exchange? Broadband is exchange specific.
www.samknows.com, then exchange search. Look for 'LLU Operator Presence'. These will be the ISP's offering the best prices on your exchange.
If no LLU's, then you are stuck with a BT Wholesale service from any ISP you wish, however these prices will generally be higher. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yes I have no LLU's at all!
WOuld it be better to go through BT directly for broadband.. rather than use another ISP that I assume will rent the same line from BT but risk a poorer service etc....0 -
Go to BT for better service :rotfl:
It's the way you tell 'em :T

Who does worse service than BT? Well maybe TalkTalk or Orange?
If no LLU options I would start by looking at Plusnet. Their Value package will be £11.99 on a Market 1 exchange like yours (£5.99 for first 3 months, and Quidco cashback available). But it's a capped 10GB download service, which may or may not be a problem, depending on your usage. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

BT Broadband is almost the worst you can get, it is without exception the worst value for money available.
Their service is dire.:(0 -
I too can't get regular broadband as I live on the moor! Have been with Sky on discounted connect at £10 per month not £17 as a deal for the last 12 months. Called them today to cancel as it was about to go up and they offered me free line rental for 12 months to make up for the extra.
Maybe worth a call?0 -
BT is VERY expensive and provide private ADSL services only people who watch their horrible TV adverts think are cool or "I'd like to be like that" or are simply ignorant about other companies.
If you have no other providers go with Plunet (owned by BT) because all the cost of those adverts, gloss and other nonsense is taken off the price = good deal.
