Help with finding a pram!

  • What is your budget?

I can highly recommend the Stokke Xplory. Watch the video, it shows how great it is:
    http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_2164_10751_-1__82823_10001_

Haven't really set a budget as such but don't want to spend more than about £600. I love the idea of the stokke but the look has totally put me off. Frien had one with her little lad and really rated it. Would prefer a more tradditional looking pram I think.

I have a Silver Cross Sleepover which has a full-size carrycot and is very warm and toasty, and the pushchair mode can face in both directions.

I also know someone with the EmmaLjunga (sp?) pram and that is similar and also fits your criteria.

But it depends on whether you need to fit it in your car - my pram chassis is a tight squeeze and has to go on the back seat not in the boot.

They are both traditional prams, but you could also check out the Quinny Buzz, and the range from Jane as they also look traditional. in fact a lot of prams look traditional if you look around, but it does dpend on how big a basket you want, etc., so try a few out.

feelingood Am in the process of buying a Stokke Xplory for my sons baby due this summer, is it really as good as it looks/sounds? It's a lot of money if I get it wrong
    Thanks

I have seen Feelie's Stokke and it is amazing! I have also seen another poster on here who has one, we met today and I was amazed at how quickly it was converted from a parent facing pushchair to an outward facing highchair!! If I had the money I would definitely get one!

I have the Aria that Pigpen mentioned - it does say suitable from birth but this is only if you have the car seat that goes with it. Otherwise it doesn't lie flat and not really suitable until bubs is a few months old.

Also had the Silver Cross 3D Jet sport as a Pram (I broke it so couldn't use it as a pram, good job I didn't buy it!) which was nice but it did take up my entire boot (Peugeot 206)

Why not get yourself to a local independent pram store.

My local was fab - huge range in stock from lots of manufacturers large and small and a lot of good advice helping me to reach a decision.

Do you have anything like this near you?

Ooohh prams and buggies, my fave subject :D.

I had this M&P Ultima on Excel chassis:
    http://www.mamasandpapas.com/product-ultima-8-in-1-x-cel-chassis-couture-brown/259817201/type-i/

Although it was 3 years ago it cost around £300 in the sale as they were discontinuing the fabric.

It's a lovely pram to walk with, and the carrycot is a really good size. You can buy a sleep mattress and use it instead of a moses basket too. The pushchair part is generously sized and has a really good recline on it. The shopping basket is a good size too, unlike some.

The only thing we didn't buy is the M&P car seat that can be used with it, as the reviews weren't good. That suited us actually as I don't like to see babies in car seats more than necessary!

    Happy pram hunting :D

I can't recommend the Herbie Ziko enough- I'm a bit of a pramaholic and rate that one over my bugaboo. You can pick them up on ebay for a little over £100 2nd hand. It has a carry cot for newborn, which then converts to either a forward or rear facing pram seat when bubs is older. It's very easy to push (I take mine through the woods) I just wish I'd found this pram for my first.

They also come in fab colours- I was getting bored with blacks/grey.
I have been looking at this one, is it a seperate carrycot like the ultima or just carrycot fabric? How does it work?

I have been on mamas and papas site this morning and looks like they are discontinuing this model and replacing it with one called rubix.

Of all the 'vehicles' I have had for my three my iCandy was by far the best for me

I had the 'Apple' version and it was fantastic. You can have a pram or buggy attached on to the base, which faces either way. There are changeable front wheels so you can have 2 with the pram then change to one if you want to with the buggy.

The back wheels are pneumatic (sp?) with really good suspension - made it the smoothest buggy I have ever puhed.

There is also a range of co-ordinating coloured accessories to match with the basic black style.

I wish my youngest was still young enough to need to go in it!!:rotfl:

You get the basic metal frame which is an oval shape. The carry cot fabric fits over the frame. You can detach the carrycot from the buggy frame (we used it as a travel cot) When babs is bigger you take the carrycot unit off and fit the separate seat unit- this can be forward or rear facing and can be turned around very easily by clicking the two side buttons.

Im not making this sound very good- when my cretins have gone to bed tonight, would you like me to take some photos of the different parts?

I also chose this pram because they carrycot is a bit larger than others I looked at (my moses basket mattress actually fit it).

If you are in Berkshire, you are more than welcome to take it for a test-drive :p

Thanks for your reply, I think I know what you mean about the carrycot fitting over the seat frame, how does it ffit on, is it buttoned on or similar? Would be lovely if you wopuldn't mind taking some pictures for me, please don't put yourself out though.

I have looked at this one on an off and it's coming up as a top contender so far. A lady was pushing one in town the other day and I nearly asked if I could push and have a play with it lol :rotfl:I am in Yorkshire so a tad far but thanks alot x
