  • Could 'bro robert' be Robert the Bruce, a later King of Scotland?

  • North west of Arbroath (well, a little bit west) is Edinburgh. Could that be 'Ed'?

Is there a monument of a horseman there? So long since I was there, I can't

    remember.

There is a Scots Grey Guardsmen war memorial statue of a horseman (in bronze) in Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh. Could that be it?
  • Just first thoughts;

Don't know where the WARK fits in, but there is a clock tower in Tunstall dedicated to Sir Smith Child. There is a church in nearby Goldenhill (St. John the Evangelist) with a stained glass window in Smith Child's memory.

Hope this helps or might get someone started!

I thought that the "Ed" was short for Edward, is there a King Edward buried someewhere where there is a statue of a stone horseman?
  • Could 'the roots' be speaking of the place where William was buried, in Arbroath, and 'bro Robert' could be King Robert the Bruce who built on Williams work when he signed the Arbroath Treaty?

Just found on this site http://www.arbroathherald.co.uk/news/BRING-SCOTLAND39S-LION-TO-ARBROATH.5999421.jp

they're petitioning for the 'Arbroath Lion' statue to be sent to Arbroath Abbey from the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. Could that give us a link?

  • Okay, it's late and I'm tired....so excuse the ramblings....what about this?

    'The Anchors competitors door'.

There's a pub called The Anchor in Arbroath and it's nearest 'competitor' is The Stag. No idea what is 10-13 on the left of that, though.

    OR

Maybe it means a competitor to sea travel....so could be railway....a train to Edinburgh, that leaves at '10 to 13' which could be 12:50pm...and left of Waverley station in Edinburgh is Princes Street...and 10-13 Princes Street is the clothes shop EVANS?

So, could there be a monument relating to someone called Evans???

    OR

Okay. I'm off to dream of Arbroath...or Edinburgh....or rhubarb....

    Rhu.

Looking at Google Maps, I can't see any water North West of Arbroath.

Anyone got any ideas about Plan 9? I tried googling it and came up with a 1959 film directed by Ed somebody or some computer related stuff.
