Im looking to buy a new car and have a C1 that is just under 3 years old. Looking aroiund the offers are pretty rubbish if you are not taking advantage of the scrappage deal. In fact most cars seem to have been marked up. Should i wait till it ends? Do you think their will be a new batch of good deals once the sales dry up in march?

I would say so. The dealers and manufacturers have now got used to a certain level of footfall in their showrooms, and they'll be keen to maintain that.0 -
Agreed, they have had it easy with the Scrappage deals, wait until reality kicks in again.0

When is it that the scrappage thing finishes? Are they definitely not extending it again? This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0

End of this month, no plans to renew ..0

The great thing that will happen when scrappage ends is that punters will then stop believing their rusty wrecks are worth £2k as private sales or trade-ins!0

Hmm, could bode well then as I'm lookig to buy a new (to me) car in March so hopefully they'll notice a slump in sales and do some decent deals. Although I'm buying 2nd hand so guess that may not apply. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0

You will still be able to get a good deal. Its just the advertising is aimed at crappage deals to get all the mugs who cant afford a car to buy a brand new one and then cry in a year when they default on it.
If you go into a dealer though I still suspect you will get a very good deal especially if you look at nearly new or pre registered which arent available for scrappage.
A lot of dealers prefer second hand anyway as less manufacturer terms to meet and also better margins.0 -

.
I suspect that there will be quite a few of them around.
I wonder what percentage of scrappage deals have been on finance?0 -
I know at least 2 people that have got brand new cars on finance due to scrappage scheme. No matter how many times I've ranted on about how it's better to save up first, then buy, They still got them on finance. I'll be interested to see what happens after the first few payments. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0

Me as well, I suspect that most of them have wiped out any of the benefit by paying OTT interest charges.
Apart from my mortgage ( now paid off ) I have never purchased anything that I cannot afford to pay for outright.0
