Hi
I want to bring the desk top pc down to lounge but have no where for the pc's monitor.
The reason i want to do this is that i now have my D-link router in lounge for use with my lap top wirelessly . did have the desk top connected to a netgear router upstairs which i run my laptop off wireless, but i was having disconnection problems on the laptop so decided to change the router filters etc ( although have now found out that problems weren't to do with the netgear router but changed router anyway to rule this out so cannot conect the desk top to the new d-link which is in lounge )
I dont use the desk top much as it is my daughters and she has gone to uni now but will obviously need to update it etc
what if any ? cable do i need to connect the desk top to TV so i can use the TV screen as a monitor.
my tv is an LG 32lg6000 with 4 hdmi /dvi-in
Sorry if thats all gobeldygoob but basically i obviously can only conect the desktop to the D-link router now which is downstairs
any help plz ?

Something like this comes to mind:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Premium-HDMI-Cable-Gold-Metre/dp/B000GDI6FC
This assumes the PC has "digital out".
This shows the back connectors of a typical PC and has a blue "analogue out" connector and a bigger white "digital out" connector just below. https://secure.dnuk.com/images/systems/deskcube-thumbnail-2-large.png0 -
1- What graphics card does your desktop has? what are the outputs?
2- most likely simple VGA lead and even simplier DVI/VGA converter would be enough
3-Do not expect any higher resolution as 1024x768 (set it that way on your graphics adapter setting), but if you can get any better- hurray!0 -
hi boliston.....thanks for the links , i cannot see the large white 'digital out' on the back....i took a pic off the back off the pc...how can i post it here so that you may take a look for me if you dont mind ?

To post your own photos on the forum you need to upload the photo to the web first. Flickr & Photobucket are sites that allow free photo uploads but there are lots of others!
Once the photo is online you can right click on the photo and select "properties" and this will show you the "location" link for the photo which you can post in the forum like I have done.
(This is using firefox, but I expect IE works in a similar way)0 -

The cable , that goes to Monitor- is it Square with round and flat pins (DVI) or not quite square with 15 round pins only? is it one connector, or does it have another next to it?worriedsik wrote: »hi atasas......i dont know what graphics card it has or the outputs i have it all disconected at the moment as was hoping to get it into lounge
Try https://www.imagefra.com for uploading- extremely simple!. after you uploaded, just copy link in a box under it; then (in this topic) click on image icon and paste0 -

I guess you could simply post the page address (shown at the top of the browser window) rather than the image address eg http://www.photobox.co.uk/my/photo?album_id=21368521&photo_id=82936520 -
