If he was lying to me then what sould I do ? should I call SP to cancel ??
Any advice is MOST welcome.
Many thanks
Did he give you a written quote based on your kWh usage figures before you signed? If he didn't, he's in breach of the new OFGEM guidelines which came in on January 18th.0 -
Ive just called SP was passed through to speak to someone about cancelling...
I told the guy on the phone what the door salesman had said , and was told "It seems you were mis quoted, the representatives that knock on your door are on commission and will say anything to get a sale , if you would like to cancel I can do so now" or words to that affect.
I have cancelled which is a huge relief and have bookmarked comparison websites and cashabck sites to look over soon( I have acctually used quidco for when I joined 02 broadband and got back £65).
Anyway , why do energy providers allow there salemen to blatantly lie ??? surely its illegal.

Just to add I looked at SP's website for a contact number which was 0845 , would have cost a few pennies. But found saynoto0870 and got a free phone number which was good.

Hi daviecooper,
I am sorry to hear about this poor service you received from our Salesman. This is not something that we condone and when you called today to complain, we will have logged these details against the agent that attended your property. This report is fed back to the agents Manager and appropriate action is taken.
As mentioned by uptomyeyeballs, OFGEM have changed the licence conditions in relation to doorstep selling from 18th January 2010. As a result of this change ScottishPower are required to provide new information at the point of sale.
This new information will be confirmed on all acknowledgement letters sent to new doorstep and direct sales, and includes:
· Estimated Annual Consumption [this will be provided by the customer, based on
their current usage]
· Estimated Total Charges with Current Supplier
· Estimated Total Charges with ScottishPower
· Estimated Saving to be made by switching to ScottishPower
Please make sure that if you discuss your gas and electricity consumption with our Sales agent, that the above information is given to you. Again, please do not hesitate to contact us if you believe that you have been given incorrect information from our Sales agent or if you believe that he has intentionally tried to mis-sell you one of our products. This way we can take action against the agent in question.
I hope this information helps.
Kind Regards
Colin @ ScottishPower

Colin, are you saying that the customer does not get this written quote at the doorstep but in a letter a few days after the sale?
That is NOT the point of sale, the doorstep is the point of sale.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

Why do people still have anything to do with these doorstep salesmen....I thought everyone now knew what a bunch of con merchants they are after reading these forums.Saying that I do like having abit of fun with them if they turn up on my doorstep, they usually end up going away feeling very embarrassed when I correct their lies.0
