My Dad's just started invigilating and marking for legal exams - I'm thinking he gets a bit more than £8 / hr!

That said, its an interesting idea - do you think you could combine it with getting paperwork done?

No you couldn't - not unless you want to be sued when all the students cheat.

Contact your local secondary schools and colleges direct - it's quicker. You'll need to speak to the Examinations Officer. Because of schools safeguadung you'll need to get a CRB check sorted.
A teacher can be in the exam too, and they usually run 'shotgun' so not actually invigilating, so do tend to use the time for marking etc...

Invigilators must be vigilant at all times as an external inspector can visit at anytime.

I did exam invigilating in a secondary school and it can be tiring - you are not allowed to sit down as you have to be constantly watching for any problems - cheating or just a student with their hand up. Depending on the subject and how the school likes things done you can walk miles in a day! That is fairly unusual though but I would say the hardest part is the boredom. You have nothing to do in a lot of exams other than just watch the students.

That said it pays fairly well and you can usually work as much or as little as you like.

Apply direct to the secondary schools or colleges themselves.

The invigilators at the school where I worked were sometimes used as readers for students with SEN. Training should be available for this, ask if it is not offered as there is a long list of regulations. I used to train them and they were paid for the hour.
