Exam Invigilating

Not sure if this will be of any use to anyone, but I've just started doing this, it is a good time to apply now as they have the Exam timetables and it is easy work. I contacted a couple of local high schools and am on the list for two schools. You have to be CRB checked, but there is no cost outlay and it is not physically demanding.

I saw a job advertised recently and it was £7/hour.
You had to send a CV and covering letter to the school.
I decided not to go for it, as it wouldn't be worth me taking time off from my day job for it, but if you work part time or not at all, it would be worth it.Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! It can pay up to £8.95 and with some schools you are self -employed. I heard about it via word of mouth although if you go to the schools website they may advertise. But well worth a call to the school and ask to speak to the exam officer. Certain areas, seem to have a lack of them.

I've done invigilating for the last couple of years......the current rate I get is £8 per hour at a local secondary school....I do this around my usual part time job and is a good way to earn a bit extra although as there are no set hours it wouldn't be a reliable source of income on it's own....easy money though!!!0

If one has a full day at it, some people not used to it, will find being on their feet for five or six hours hard work.domesticgoddess wrote: »not physically demanding. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

It may be worth contacting local adult education/FE colleges as well as schools. I work in college in London and the rate of pay for exam invigilating is £13 p/h but at the moment only open to staff who currently work there, but I'm sure others will have different rules! Hth0

When I've been in exams, they're sat down, then they stand and say their bit and hand out papers. Then they're mostly sat down at the front watching ... until somebody puts their hand up. Then it's just one walk round at the end to collect papers. If one has a full day at it, some people not used to it, will find being on their feet for five or six hours hard work.
Hardly "hard work" is it.0 -
The ones I did, we stood and walked around the whole time. With three hundred students in a hall, there's just the possibility that one will try cheating. I may not find it hard work, but some will and they should be made aware of the possibility so that they can make an informed decision as to whether this work is for them or not.PasturesNew wrote: »When I've been in exams, they're sat down, then they stand and say their bit and hand out papers.
