Renewing my freedom pass?

Options
Has anyone else had trouble renewing their Freedom Pass – the London one? Submitted my form to my local post office – plus photograph – 15 January and was told I should receive it in the next 10 working days. On the receipt there’s the information on how to track the application either by internet or telephone.

Logged onto the website where it shows that they have received the application (which I obviously knew) but the following three stages ‘photograph approved’; ‘pass being produced’; ‘pass being mailed to you’ are ALL still awaiting.

Tried to call the number they give but gave up eventually after 20 minutes or so.

I started to worry about the photograph but it was the same batch as was used for my passport, so it’s got to be OK, since the passport people are really fussy now.

Am I the only one who’s experiencing trouble with this?

Can I ask where you got your renewal form from? I have tried to download the online one but for some reason it won't download.... sorry I don't know why you haven't received yours yet... I am in London too by the way..

  • My pass was handed to the Post Office on 4/1/10 & I got it in the post on 27/1/10, so the '10 days', is nonsense.

A friend who also handed it in on 4/1 has got to Stage 3 - processed by 5/2 but it has not got 'Sent' yet! Another friend got to 'Sent' on 5/2 but has still not received it by 11/2.

It's a scandal that no one has reassured us or explained the delays.
  • The can be got from Post Offices but you have to queue up. They are yellow.

Well I still haven't received mine and it's been nearly a month now.
  • London have made a mess of it. The new pass will last five years instead of two and the photo will be part of the card instead of being stuck on it. A lot of people will be asked to have a medical and provide loads of I.D. There is a very large backlog due to red tape and people waiting until the last minute.

HERE is a link to the form itself, you can fill it in, print then sign and take to your Post Office for processing.. all the information you need is on the pages of the form...

I don't see what the problem is with the photo being part of the card and you have always had to supply ID to get the pass in the past... why would I need a medical as the only criteria is that I am over 60 and live in a London Borough, its got nothing to do with wether I am disabled or otherwise... where did you get that info from?

EDIT:If you are talking about the Disabled Persons Pass of course thats a different matter...

This is what has happened with me. It took them 3 months to decide whether I'm eligible for one. (am banned from driving due to vision) All they had to do was ask me for a letter from the hospital that stated "<my name> is registered partially sighted" or phone up the physical and sensory team - they claimed they did this adn couldn't find my file. I phoned them up and got told that I am known to them as a disabled person.
A lot of people will be asked to have a medical

How would that be any different for the under 60s, than what it was like before?

I'm sorry? What are you talking about? This is an OAP bus pass for goodness' sake - not a benefits claim.

I handed in my forms on 30th Jan and the Post Office said the photograph was unacceptable as it was on matt photo paper and not glossy. I asked him to submit it anyway and kept checking as I was a bit worried. The next 3 stages happened on the 16th Feb and I received it on the 18th which I think is quite good - I never really thought they would do it in 10 days.

Just thought I'd update you - it arrived yesterday, 18th February. Just to let everyone know that, even if it takes a month, it probably WILL arrive eventually.
