Dear all,
hope someone can help me. My husband has moved the pc around and now the speakers won't work.
It is a medion pc with tevion sub woofer and speakers.
I have undone the connections he did and using the manual plugged everything back in - no joy.
Have looked at previous threads on this subject and think it may be something to do with the drivers.
On the medion site it said
can’t get any sound from my computer
1. Insert the ‘Application & Support CD’
2. Click Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager
3. In Device Manager there will be an entry with a yellow question mark next to it called ‘Multimedia Audio Controller’
4. Right click on ‘Multimedia Audio Controller’ then click ‘Update Driver…’
5. When asked if Windows can connect to Windows Update select ‘No, not at this time’ then click ‘Next’.
6. At the next screen select ‘Install the software automatically (Recommended)’ and click ‘Next’
7. Windows will search the CD for the driver and install it.
8. Click ‘Finish’
Did as said but couldn't find Multimedia audio controller listed so went through all the drivers in sound video and game controllers and tried to update drivers, but just kept getting message -latest driver is already installed.
Anyone got any ideas
Thanks for reading
Regards
Anne

try using "system restore" to roll back to a day before he moved it
it's under Accessories , system toolsEx forum ambassador

There is an audio driver that the sound on my PC won't work without it being installed. It's called SiS 7012 Audio driver. Maybe yours uses it as well?

You will probably have to redownload what ever driver it is manually, anyway.0 -
This sounds boring but check with OH exactly what he did. I am always moving comps around school and he will probably just have done something simple like as you pointed out the wires in the wrong place. Try again and look at stuff like the mute bit. I have no idea what your comp is like so I am in the dark really but my sensible head says it might be something simple. Has he plugged them in to the mains? Has he blown a fuse? I wouldn't change the settings until the basics have been checked. Would setting the comp back to the time before the move help? Only if he has messed with the settings. Look at the control pannel sounds menu too.
Sorry not to be very techie just simple ideas!!

Oh yes make sure the speakers are actually switched on and not just plugged in. I do that all the time.

Best thing would be to remove all drivers for your sound card and start again.
Might be worth also checking the manufacturers website for an upto date pack also.
You should skip searching cd and install it yourself by selecting the driver.
Might be also that if you uninstall the drivers reboot and when prompted don't install them but goto windows update and let it scan your drivers files and it might have drivers there.
I use windows update for my sound card drivers as they are better and more stable than the ones creative supply.0 -
Go to https://www.drivershq.com and click on "Run free scan for bad drivers." The scan result will tell you what driver you need for your soundcard. Then either go to the manufacturer's site to download of google for a download.

That site is a joke.
I have a membership with them, they were o.k then they became bad.
Do you know Brian Damage and Chertsy Bolovsky?0 -

Agreed it's not the best for getting up-to-date drivers but the scanner is useful to find what devices you need drivers for.leesmithg wrote:Do you know Brian Damage and Chertsy Bolovsky?
Given my av, I take it that's a rhetorical question (he asked rhetorically)?

Sure you've plugged it into the correct hole?
Try the speakers in a CD player, mp3 players etc..
If this came about after a physical move, then it is unlikely it is a driver issue.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
