Signed up for NTL installation but want to change mind

A tenant in my daughters new student house has arranged for ntl broadband to be connected tomorrow, Monday. This is for them all to share by wireless. He has signed up for £17.99 a month but thats full price! I did not know he had actually signed but they came round really fast on Sat for the signature agreement apparently. He actually signed the agreement for this yet on the site its saying £8.99 for the first 3 months for new customers then £17.99 after.

Can he ring back even though hes signed for installation and say he wants to cancel the order because hes within 7 day cooling off period? He could tell them he has since found out lots of people are on £9.99 for the same service and many advertise for £14.99 plus they are advertising the fIrst 3 months at £8.99 on the NTL site so natuarally they arent going to be happy with being ripped off for the full £17.99. Its just for the broadband on its own. If they offer them it cheaper thats ok but its not fair to make them sign for a 12 months contract at that price

They only have mobile phones so ringing that number runs the minutes up. Could I ring to sort this out for them if they give me the details? even though its in a males name? The lad is young and they prob took advantage of this when signing him up but if theres long waiting times too its going to be expensive for any of them to ring from there.

Also what if they actually turn up tomorrow morning to instal before this is sorted out?
Thanx

First I would try and phone them on the 0800 number and explain that you are unhappy and can get it cheaper, they should budge, if they don't then you are free to cancel the installation, and re-sign up later on the special offer. I would get on the phone to them straight away. I recently signed up to Telewest when a rep came to the door and made me a better offer that on the website. I hope he sticks to it as it is not an "official" offer if you get what I mean.

He can cancel before they come out but once they are out and start work I think its too late and the minimum term will begin.

I would do as mentioned in the previous post and ring them threatening to cancel saying you've changed your mind because it's cheaper through this new offer they are doing and you'll probably find that they'll give you this offer but ensure they write it in the notes of your account or something (and get their name, dept, etc) just in case later on you have a hard time convincing them if they have "accidently" kept you on the same original plan and not the special offer.

Yes going to ring her in a bit and tell her to tell him to ring them first thing in the morning to say it doesnt seem fair that they did not mention the offer on the internet when he signed up and will they honour it. Only thing I'm bothered about is if they go back on their word as he wont have it in writing then. I'll tell them to say if they wont honour it they will cancel installation

If they turn up before he gets through can he stop them putting it in until he has conformation from NTL that they will honour the offer. Maybe the workmen might be able to sign something who knows

I'm pretty mad about it because the guy in there only cancelled it less than 2 months ago. If hed have continued it they would prob have got the 9.99 deal after the 12 months but now they will be in a new contract and wont be able to negociate for another 12 months. He knew new tenants were coming and he had told them the internet was already in and staying
    Thanx
