Orange Contract Will they upgrade me?

Hey

My contract phone with orange is due for an upgrade next month and expires in June but I'm a bit concerned that they won't upgrade it for me

I've not been able to pay my bill recently for the past 3 months and have called and explained my situation to them - my mobile has since been completely blocked

I am paying the full amount owed to them on friday which is £190 god and my phone should then be put back on

just wondered if any of you guys had experienced this before and if being late in paying bills would affect my chances of getting an uprgade

Hard to tell, and upgrade is usually a new contract, they may fail you on the credit check and refuse the upgrade, or they may sell the debt on if you don't pay it all and refuse you, or they may be happy to upgrade you if you pay it all off. You may also get a worse deal than somneone who has paid on time, they will know you have problems so offer you a poor deal in the hope of you moving to someone else.

Unltimalty credit checking and scoring is done in house and the methodology kept secret, as if you knew what they scored on you could try and get round it.
  • you'll be fine.

there's no credit-checking done at point of upgrade. provided your bill is settled and you have no outstanding balance they will upgrade you. the recent non-payment may slightly affect how good an upgrade you can get.

I would however suggest that if you have had problems with paying your bills, you should perhaps consider going for a sim-only option to limit your liability and use your existing handset or a cheap PAYG handset in the meantime.

Alternatively, push for a 'retention' offer (see other threads on this board) where you effectively threaten to leave on a couple of occasions and see what they offer you to stay...

you won't be able to upgrade if you don't pay your bill (though by the sounds of it, you'll be paying this shortly). Also - you may have trouble signing with a different network provider if your credit rating has been affected through non-payment of bills.

    I believe it's 150 option 1, option 4, option 1 to upgrade.
