Loo Roll - what's the point in 'luxury' toilet paper?!?

so in the supermarket, there is a billion options - they all look identical
Some are even 'quilted' or have 'aloe vera' .. kinda makes me laugh
Is there any point in paying more?
For kitchen towels, I think Bounty is okay (bit more pricey? but absorbs more)

Depends how much you value the comfort of you behind really doesn't it!
Just as a friendly warning, you have alot of new posts up..... beware you dont over do it as you may get in trouble on the basis of spanning....2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -
It is down to the softness. I have tried the whole range as an experiment and it is worth paying a bit more for added comfort.
By keeping an eye on special offers it is not too difficult to keep the price as low as possible and I buy up as much as I have room to store when there is an offer on.0 -
My mum does what you do bossyboots, if theres ever an offer on andrez dulex quilt or whatever she'll buy a crazy amount!
I think good quality tissue is important if you got a cold and need to blow your nose, the cheap stuff rips to bits and is so rough it makes my nose sore.I'm better off without you.0 -

I work on the checkout at Sainsbury's whilst I'm at university, and I can report that about 95% of customers buy what I would consider 'premium' bog roll. Very, very few buy the 'Basics' toilet rolls, as I do, at just £1.20 for 12 rolls. Most buy Andrex at an insanely expensive £3.88 for just 9 rolls!
Even when I'm earning my millions as a chartered accountant, I think I'll continue buying the 'Basics' brand. My girlfriend and I use about a roll per day on average (you were just gagging to know that, am I right?), so roughly that's three 'Basics' 12-packs per month, costing £3.60 per month, or £43.20 per year. If I were to go up-market with the Andrex, it'd cost £186.24 for the same number of toilet rolls (432).
Granted, it's nicer on your bum, but are you willing to spend nearly £200 a year for the privilege of wiping your brown-eye with a brand name?'It is the duty of righteous men to make war on all undeserved privilege.' - Primo Levi0 -

A roll per day me and OH use one per week0 -
Theres a good point to buying huge amounts of toilet roll when its on offer, if its a good deal then fill several trollies up with it, providing you have storage space.
Why?
Well, you're always going to need it and it never goes off, you're going to pay for more at some point in your lifetime so you might as well save while you can.
Check out Makro and Costco occasionally for the huge wholesale/bulk packs where you get about 24 x 6 roll packs.
These can work out very cheap per a roll, but Costco and Makro or similar stores are NOT always the cheapest, especially if shops have buy 1 get 1 free offers.
As for the quality, yes its really worth paying the extra.
Well to a degree.
You don't have to go overboard with the £5 for 4 roll stuff, but a small step up from the "£2.40 for 24 roll" stuff is worth it.
Although (no offence ladies), there IS a good point in buying cheap toilet roll if you house share with women.
Having shared a house for two years with 4 women, myself being the only bloke I found that as we all "contributed" to the toilet roll, I was forking out a HUGE amount and using little.
(They'd go through about 2 rolls a DAY, myself I probably about 1 a fortnight).
So the really cheap stuff has its uses....
:!:0 -
A roll a day!!!!! WOW - That's a lot of pooing going on!!!!:rotfl:
Me and the 2 kids go through one every 3-4 days and we just use Tescos' own 'luxury'. One step up from the value brand but that stuff's so thin we would go through 1 roll every few hours!!!
I do get Charmin or another brand when they have offers on but that's it. I can get the big packs now I have the Rolser trolley otherwise it's a pain to carry home.Noli nothis permittere te terere

Well, I have a healthy alimentary canal, and my girlfriend can't keep her hands off me, so there's a lot of spillages...'It is the duty of righteous men to make war on all undeserved privilege.' - Primo Levi0

If it stops 'ring sting' its worth it in my opinion!
