Faulty PC computer game - 'The Saboteur' Where do we stand

Bought in December 2009. The game is full of bugs and has been patched as per manufacturers updates. The problem is that after the game was released, the manufacturer sacked the games developers and therefore these bugs will NEVER be resolved as far as we can tell. We no longer have the receipt but have bank statement showing purchase from Game. Many others are in the same boat and have contacted the manufacturers, with no response.
Where do we stand?
I doubt Game will refund as the game does play, but the bugs make it impossible to complete and it is very glitchy (i.e. in a car chase, your car falls through the floor etc)
I take it that it is the manufacturers responsibility for this, but as they are not replying, what is our next plan of attack?
Thanks in advance for your help

Are all the bugs defiantly down to the game (i.e. they happen for everyone) and not just to any issues on your computer? Would you say they make the game unplayable?
In theory, you could have a case against the retailer under the sales of goods act since the goods are not fit for the purpose. However, I've never heard of any cases where that has been applied, it certainly would be a tricky case to argue.0 -

My fiance posting hence the tech speak!:
It's impossible to complete the game as during a race scene my car falls through the floor, and I lose the race. It's unplayable. From what I can tell the game has a problem with ATI Graphics cards that has not been resolved by the released patches. There also seems to be a problem with QuadCore processors as the manufacturer suggests deactivating two of the cores on QuadCore machines which I have done - following the instructions. These are obviously common components. It's the game that is the problem not my hardware. There are many people with the same spec PC's and the same problem. I'm stuck with a game I can't finish!0 -

Fitness for purpose would be impossible to argue. What is the 'purpose' of a game? OP should say that the game is not of satisfactory quality which includes a requirement to be free of minor defects.
Proving this will be tricky.0 -

I would think they would suggest a "repair" as a resolution in the form of future patches......Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

This is not likely to happen, see my first post.0 -
Have you spoke to Game about it? They might give you store credit or something if you kick up enough of a fuss. Generally though, most places are reluctant to give refunds/exchanges on games for obvious reasons0

I'll send him off there as soon as I can. See what they say, and get back on here with the response. Not holding out for much though!0 -
GAME are normally fairly good in giving you store credit for faulty games, if the game is widely known to be buggy. Lack of a receipt will prove a stumbling block, though.
Although you say a patch from the developer Pandemic will not be happening, it looks like both EA ATI are still working on patches to resolve the issue.poppy100 -
If they have had other customers with the same issue and given them a refund or store credit then you may have a chance0

The problem is that the game isn't faulty for the PC. It just doesn't work properly with ATI graphics cards.
When you bought the game, Game covered themselves by stating 'Have you checked the specs on your PC to ensure this game will work'. Whilst some retailers flagged a warning about compatability, Game didn't, at least not instore by the sounds of it. However they could argue that it was up to you to ensure compatability0
