Hello Cheri, I've been over on your diary, catching up. I think I've got about 6 pages somewhere in the middle before I'm fully up to speed.
I'm doing the Shine night-time walk Manchester just did theirs at the beginning of the month. I'll be doing the Glasgow one in September and there's one in London in October. It's for Cancer Research and you can chose one of 12 cancer charities to fundraise for. I've chosen cervical cancer as my friend overcame a very aggressive form, which so easily could have not been found when it was.
The physio at work is going to do it with me. Which is handy as she'll be able to keep me right with any aches and pains!
I also thouht it would be a good way to keep me better focused on my health and fitness. Which helps keeps me positive. And means I tend to eat more sensibly (i.e. I eat!).
Although not been too great at any of those things in the last few weeks, so need to get back on track!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

That looks really good and I am so impressed. I always think that there is nothing like a goal to keep you focused on something. I too can be rubbish at eating. If Mr C is away I forget to eat at all for days and then wonder why I feel so tired and worn out. What a good charity and reason you have chosen there. I had a brush with the same thing at the age of 23 would you believe. Luckily for me (and quite by chance as they dont offer tests routinely) it was caught in the very nick of time and it was not advanced enough to do lasting damage. If you have a just giving page link it as your home page and remind me nearer the time to visit it and sponsor you. This is one charity that I feel quite strongly about supporting. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Aw, thank you cheri! You're almost making me cry
. My friend found out in exactly the same way you did. I will certainly let you know about my just giving page. I always hate asking and right now is too soon, but it's all set up and ready to go nearer the time.
No doubt I will be keeping my diary up-to-date so you can all pick me up when I fall to the ground crying that my feet hurt and my calf muscles ache and I can't sit down 'cos my gluts are not happy!
I do the same with eating. I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to food. I like my cupboards to be full just in case, but I'm less great at actually using that food to cook with. It's like I'm worried that it'll run out. I haven't worked out whether this is a fear to do with running out of money and not being able to buy more food or a fear to do with food itself. I suspect a little of both.
I keep thinking if I got up earlier in the morning and went to work earlier, I'd get home earlier and I might be more motivated to cook. But the fact of the matter is I'm not a morning person and I don't manage to consistently manage to get out of bed early!
I managed twice to get up and do yoga in the morning but I'm so not consistent! I thought that might also be good for my wellbeing. I still think it would be but I have to accept that pushing myself to get out of bed earlier is, at the moment, setting myself up to fail! I've been trying to do it for the last four years!!! At least. (Any-one else ever gone back to bed, for just 5 minutes, after their shower, only to wake up an hour or more later, completely disorientated and with damp hair resembling that of a scarecrow? ... Just me then?)

:rotfl: The council have refunded the £2.20 for money I lost to the defunct car parking machine ages ago! *Wonders idly if they ever sent any-one out to fill the machine with paper...*
Now if only theur council tax department were as efficient! They still haven't implemented my single person's allowance as my flat mate is a student. I think I'll have to go in. I lose the plot on the phone as invariably you get a defensive jobsworth on the phone who doesn't know their own rules (I still haven't forgiven them for a fiasco just after I moved into my flat, where, they were trying to get me to pay an outstanding balance for a flat I stayed in 4 years previously when I was a student. Citizen's advice and the council's own website said I wasn't liable but the muppet on the phone was so imcompetent that I got really angry and asked her if she even gave a d4mn as long as some-one gave her money. She essentially agreed that was what she was doing!  I was calling from work. My entire office were astounded. I don't think any of them had ever heard me lose my temper. Though I did manage to tell her that she had to stop talking for a few minutes while I took a deep breath and calmed down because I was really angry!) Oops! Clearly that's still an issue for me!!! Anyhoo, I got it all sorted when I went in to the office, so I should do that. It's just a pain as it's in the city centre and only open during work hours. You need to get there before they open too or you just sit around in aqueue all day. Don't you love the efficiency of this country!
Yikes! Where'd that all come from! Can you tell I haven't finished my cuppa this morning yet!
Todays plans are rather relaxed, though spendy! Haircut and colour, then a mooch around Remanant Kings to spend birthday voucher, then off to a wee glasses shop to see if I can find a pair of frames I like! That may take me some time!!!! (Actually I have my old, broken glasses; I want the same shaped frames. Though I may branch out and go for a bluey or silvery frame rather than the kinda burgandy one I have... or maybe not). Nicca in her new glasses! :rotfl: Oooh, I know, how about these ones:
I currently have £400 in my account that I want to put to my RBS loan but I'm thinking it might be more sensible to leave it to pay for the haircut, glasses and pay my home contents insurance in one go as it's due in the next month. Then pay the remainder to the loan. I seem to get a bit anxious when there is that much money in my account and I can see it disappearing before my very eyes before any of it gets near any of my debts! I then obsess on counting down how long it will take instead of focusing on how much I've actually managed to pay off already!
On the plus side, I guess I've now realised that's what I do!
Right, enough left field ranting... I'm off to face the city centre on a Saturday! Wish me luck!(It's OK, I'm off to Loch Lomand tomorrow! Yin and Yang. )

Got my hair done, with blond bits (well, actually, given how dark I am, light brown is probably more accurate) hiding underneath the dark for a wee change. I have a bob and get a bit bored of it now and then but it suits me and I don't actually want to change the style so colour is the way to go. I really like it... but I'm still in a grumpy mood!
I also nipped in to a few charity shops and got a Jane Norman top (it's one of the few "real shops" I shop at, so it'll definitely get worn), a summery day dress and a summery skirt... it's absolutley chucking it down here so I think I was hoping they'd be an antedote... doesn't seem to have worked yet!
Though I did think I saw a cute guy looking me up and down. That put a smile on my face. Which turned into :rotfl: as I realised I was wearing purple trainers, a bright red jacket, carrying my lime green handbag and sporting an umbrella with electric blue spots. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Perhaps he was eyeing me up for reason's other than I thought! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Or maybe he just wanted my umbrella.
I went to the (eye) glasses warehouse. Got there to realise I'd left my handbag in the flat and didn't have my prescription or my old glasses or my purse...
take two... didn't realise they close at 4pm and 15 minutes is not enough time for me to decide what eye wear I want! Especially when I want sunglasses too! It's going to take me ages to decide! I asked him to keep a few behind so I can go back tomorrow and see if I still like them! I'm not sure I like the blue so close to my eyes. I think I need the frames to suit my skin tone. Which always looks a bit jaundiced to me! Or grey. Or pale blue! Butti... what colour should I go for?  :undecided
Black is too stark. Brown isn't great for my skin tone. Grey seemed a bit dull for my liking. Thin rims looked silly on me. Rectangular seems to be the best shape but not if they're too wide at the outer edges of my eyes.
Maybe I need to find a shop with a lot less choice!!!
Ooh, I think I have some chocolate left over, time for another cuppa.Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Re the hoarding food - with you on that and I do it with money too and I know it is because I am scared that I will have none as that used to happen regularly as a child. Try having a read of Firewalkers thread and blog Do not try to control money because it will control you. She is amazing and I am learning lots about myself and my relationship with money. She is a lecturer in philosophy too so she knows a thing or two. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. I think a blue could do it but you want an element of warmth in it to warm your face up, maybe a similar blue to cheriesongs signature. Not a powder blue or grey blue as that will just drain you more.
What about a soft green.
I think you will know when you find them!

:DCheri - having just read Firewalker's post on your diary re. percentages and workings out and stuff and being suitably impressed, I think I will absolutely take up your recommendation!
Loving the quote!More on that in a second...
Butti, funny you should say that as I was trying on greens but nothing else in my entire wardrobe is green (ok, maybe one t-shirt...). Trying on glasses, I found to be a bit like testing perfume; after a couple they all merge into oneness! But you're right, I'll find the ones for me (or they'll find me)!
Today I was at a fabulous wee place near Loch Lomand: Tir na nOg (thanks to a KGB deal). Had an aromatherapy massage and a three course lunch, as well as being given a free gift and a £20 voucher to spend in the shop. I had a lovely day and got myself a CD of chakra meditations with my voucher, so even if I miss body balance or yoaga, I can still take advantage of the relaxation they do at the ends of those classes. I also got a lovely, bright elephant mobile because I am a big kid and I have more elephants in my house than I know what to do with!:rotfl: (You have no idea how much I spend on peanuts in a month!!!)
Chrei, I was thinking of you as they had a stand full of cards with quotes on them. I am now thinking I need a notebook to jot them down as I saw one that was perfect for you and Austria and I can't even begin to remember it now.How frustrating!
I bought myself one as a little reminder to myself!
Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. Max Ehrmann :A
I'd highly recommend it, if you are passing by this way!
Then I skipped off to meet my pregnant friend who is visiting (greasy hair from facial massage and all) and had a lovely time chatting. She got me a wee stawberry shaped tea infuser as a pressie, which is weird and cool as I have been keeping an eye for such a thing (ok, not specifically stawbeery shaped, because that would be just too odd, but you get the jist).
And came home to watch Toy Story 3. Is it just the effects of the massage, or is that story an emotional rollercoaster? Loved it too!

Wealth is not his that has it, but his that enjoys it. Benjamin Franklin
Just as well then! Today I spent £170. But I have a pair of glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses being sorted as we speak! Butti, you were right! I went back, wasn't keen on the ones I had chosen. Narrowed it down to a dozen and whittled them down to three... but really I knew as soon as I tried them on I'd settle on them. They're a coppery bronzy colour so nothing I had in mind! They go well with my new hair. :rotfl:
So, if I find myself a dozen men and whittle them down, the same thing should happen, right? Will it also only take three quarters of an hour, 'cos I'm quite a busy lady? :rotfl:
