I was just going to bed but remembered I needed to change something on my signature and when I went to CP up popped your thread as I have it on subscription so I popped on to check how you were and I see this - how apt it is

I haven't read back to see how things are with you but the quote and your comment are very apt for me. Mr 3Dogs had open appendectomy in early February but had to go back into hospital 2 weeks later as got infection with swelling around wound. Operation the same day, 22nd Feb, to clear our infection but surgeon found Cancerous tumour in large bowel which had spread to liver. So large bowel removed with part liver too, and stoma fitted. Abscess had eated through wall of bowel too. Told inurable but could have chemo to try to slow it down, and given 6 months to 2 years. Fast forward to March when told be Oncologist that he is too weak for Chemo and to think in terms of months instead of years

But we have faced this together and plan on enjoying what time he has left. DLA has been sorted and we pick up Motability car on Thursday. We plan on getting out and about, meeting with friends and with family. We talk about the cancer, what has happened and what will happen. Alan has not cried 'why me' he has just got on with it, and I have too

Your quote and comment are how we are treating life You can't change the past or change what cards you have been dealt, but, yes, your attitude to these things is what can see you through. Positive attitude = happiness. As Alan says when people say it is a horrible day "No, today is a lovely day. I woke up this morning!"

Nic, what can I say?....... I havent been onto MSE much lately. I don't know why but I specifically came on tonight to see how you are doing. I read that you have had sad news. I really hope that you are ok. Then I sit and look at my screen and read your quote again, then I read 3dogs response, again, what can I say? 3dogs, your husband is a real inspiration, he is so right, today is a beautiful day because we woke up... My thoughts are with you both, I wish you happiness in the days to come and the strength to deal with all that is to be thrown at you.

I have a card on my fridge, it was given to me when I was going through a dark time. It says "Attitude is everything, you simply cannot be beaten if,at the end of the day some part of you can whisper I will try again tomorrow" Now there are days that we all feel beaten but we can still try.

Tonight my friend made it through emergency neurosurgery. But he is far from safe.

Me, I'm not doing so good. But I needed to get this down so I can hopefully cry and sleep.

To my fb friends, I know I don't need to say it, but please don't mention it there.

There is so much I want to say and need to get down. But perhaps a debt free diary is not the place and no longer my focus.

3Dogs, I am so very, very sorry. I know I haven't been around and I'm so glad of the support you have received on MSE. Please know that just because I am not here doesn't mean I am not thinking of you, and of Alan and of your dogs and of your family. If you have found the strength to do what you are doing, I can do the same for my friend. xxxxxxxxxxx
