Are calls to 18185 counted towards the " make at least 10 chargeable or inclusive calls per month. " condition ?

No because BT do not benefit at all if you use 18185.

No because they are not chargeable or inclusive calls on BT.

There's no such thing as a 'local' call (hasn't been since July 2004 when BT started charging the same for almost* all 01 and 02 calls).

On BT's Unlimited Weekend Plan (their basic plan), you get inclusive calls of up to 60 minutes each to 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 numbers. Such calls do count towards the requirement to make 10 calls.

You do, however, need to make ONE truly chargeable call each month in order to retain those inclusive calls of up to 60 minutes each to 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 numbers.

    * Calls to Jersey and Guernsey are excluded.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Does anybody know if BT are still doing this offer? They seem to be continually 'extending' the expiry date of it and it is not advertised anywhere...

    No they are not.

The offer has been replaced by this £29.99 connection offer.

Which isn't surprising as such calls are chargeable calls.

Eh? Truly chargeable? As opposed to what? Pretend chargeable?

And it's obligatory to make one call a month? Where does that come from?

From one of BT company representative's posts last year (the text bolding below is mine):
Hi Mau 408! I would like to clear up any confusion here. The one chargeable call per month which you refer to on your post relates to customers who make at least one chargeable call per month, from their BT line which entitles them to automatically receive inclusive UK Weekend Calls as part of their BT package. Customers who do not make at least one chargeable call per month with BT will be charged for calls at the standard rate.
    Hope this helps

I take your point about 'chargeable' and/or 'inclusive-chargeable' (we've been here before) but, to avoid the risk of being charged for Caller Display, I have my Orchid programmed to make all my weekend 01/02/03/0845 and 0870 calls via BT (out of my Unlimited Weekend Plan's inclusive allowances) but, taking note of BTCR Ann's post last year (above), also make one 'chargeable-chargeable' (i.e. one which isn't 'inclusive-chargeable' but which is 'truly-chargeable') call to my local takeaway - so it's less than a minute - each month.

The 'inclusive-chargeable' interpretation of a 'chargeable' call adds confusion to the pot but I've given up argueing semantics on that one. In my mind, a call is either inclusive (meaning I don't have to pay for it individually) or chargeable (meaning I do have to pay for it individually).

The "one chargeable call per month" as an entitlement "to automatically receive inclusive UK Weekend Calls" is no longer in force. It disappeared from the T&C soon after that post was made.

As for being charged for calls at the "standard rate" if the chargeable call was not made - that was a figment of BT Customer Service's collective imagination.
    . . . . . but, taking note of BTCR Ann's post last year (above), . . . . .
The post can safely be ignored
    . . . . . . . also make one 'chargeable-chargeable' (i.e. one which isn't 'inclusive-chargeable' but which is 'truly-chargeable') call to my local takeaway - so it's less than a minute - each month.
You appear to be having a Donald Rumsfeld moment! :)

A simple question. What difference would it make to you personally if the condition to keep Caller Display free was "Two chargeable calls per month"? In other words "inclusive" was not mentioned.

I'd expect your answer to be "none". For my situation it would not be "none".

None (I have a takeaway nearly every week).
