I am on 3 and my daughter is on Vodafone, I have set her wifi up and downloaded Fring so that she can use Skype, she has a data plan, but looking on the Vodafone site she cannot use it with Skype.

"Yes. However, to use Skype™ calls or peer-to-peer services you will need Mobile broadband via your phone. The data for these services will be deducted from your data allowance."

"You can not use Skype™ or peer-to-peer services on any other pay monthly or pay as you browse packs."

Has anyone tried using Skype on Vodafone?

Looks like you can use Windows Live Messenger. Use the mobile-friendly version of this site on your phone.
  • Standard data charges apply
  • Inclusive with mobile internet Flexi pack
"You can’t use data services like making calls over the internet or sharing data files over the internet with the Value and Flexi browsing packs."

I guess if you just keep everything under 500mb/m and dont do anything dodgy like skype video calls, p2p or using phone as a modem, you can get away with it,
I plan to do the same when I get my win mobile handset on orange contract.
any1 know a good traffic monitor software for windows mobiles ?
  • I looked into this and it is not wi-fi that you need but an internet connection and probably unlimited data allowance.

I have 2 phones, one for Skype (using Skype out to call abroad) and a PAYG one with call charges I will pay as I will not pay 3's 20p per minute. I would like only 1 phone but I cannot justify spending money on some 3G phone (not 3 phone) which is what your daughter needs.

My daughter has a 3G phone, a Nokia 5800 on Vodafone and she has a data plan inc in her package, but as I have said in the t&c it says you can't use your data plan for Skype. I have a Huawei U7510 on 3 on PAYG, so I get free Skype and WLM.
