Free Mobile phone satnav.....
Software. To try the system, all you have to do is register. You can use Nav4All free of charge until August 15, 2006.

Might be, if you already had a GPS receiver. Since practically everyone that owns a GPS receiver will already have sat nav software to go with it I think it has limited appeal. Unless they're really unhappy with whatever software they currently have that is.
Quote from their FAQ Here
1. I do not have a GPS...
You can buy one at your local telephone or electronics store or in our shop.
Although they'll happily sell you the truly excellent Holux GR-236 for about £50. It's an excellent receiver.
It also appears to only run on mobile phones. Probably because it only downloads the map from the service providers servers when you calculate a route and only downloads the bit of the map you need for your route.
It's an interesting idea. Kind of the same as the WayFinder service.Marillion - A Better Way of Life.0 -
Just had a read of their FAQ, and two points I noted...
1) After the free period (August 15th 2006), there's an "anticipated monthly fee of between € 0.50 and € 2.00" Although it also says an annual payment if available too.
2) Q. Do I stay in connection with the Nav4All computer the whole time while I am navigating?
A. No, only to calculate the route; which is generally no more than a few seconds. If the route needs to be recalculated because you have changed your plans or ignored the directions, you would need to call the Nav4All computer with your telephone again.
Not sure of the costs involved in "connecting" to the Nav4All computer, but as this system is supposed to work worldwide, for those who don't already have a satnav system, then it could be a very cheap solution.
Yes, I know satnav is worldwide - but for the likes of us TomTom users, it means purchasing the up-to-date maps of the countries in order to navigate!!0
