My daughters moved into a a student house the gas in on meter with Brish gas. They have been told they can change it to bill payment instead if they want by the landlord there are no outstanding arrears

I though British GF are very expensive arent they? So they wanted to move to a different company do you think they can when its on meter?
Thanx

ebico is cheaper than southern - they just use southern to do their billing/use of website etc. in the way of the card meter - equipower will either be able to download a different tarrif onto your meter so your £5 cards last longer or (and in my mothers case) they charge her what BG does then once a quater she gets an £85 cheque for the difference!

ebico aka equipower is a brilliant tarrif for people who have card meters!

It says it goes on area for electric though and we are both east midlands which is next to the cheapest so not sure if southern may be cheaper. And for gas its fixed for all so as we are in a cheaper area I'll have to find out if its cheaper but prob ebico would be good as I think they will have to stick with bill every 3 months rather than direct debit. Its so hard to tell, figures are confusing on southern site. But they would change both gas and electric if it saved them money. It says no standing charge for electric but its not clear about the gas

They were thinking of taking the meter out though and paying by bill as the guy in the house already said it caused problems last year when anyone ran out of money and it was thier turn to pay. Not sure how they would work it out if they got a refund by cheque if it stayed as a meter because its a student house too. They would have to work that out

Oh you mean its just the same price as if it was a bill pay service you mean thats why its cheaper for meter payers? Do you usually pay more per unit on a card meter then?

YES a lot more! compare the BG rates which are 4.412p for the first 4500 kwh per year then 2.617p per kwh for the rest.

equipowers rate is 1.94 for all units. - best bet is to not have a pre-payment meter then set up a kitty that everyone has to put into for gas and electricity!

    Southern verses ebico:

I checked on Southerns site and its £2.37 for standard gas and £8.95 for electricity but they both have standing charges

The ebico electric for east mids is £7.62 wow thats blummin amazing its cheaper than southerns direct debit one :) so I'll advise them to speak to ebico too its also a freephone number :) Brilliant

Have recently moved to Ebico from Powergen. Ebico kept me informed what was going on all the way and it took about 4-5 weeks for change over. Just waiting to receive the benefits of cheaper enegy now.
