I have heard that the Travelodge on St Mary's Street, Edinburgh is good. It's right in the middle of Edinburgh and has lots of bars, restaurants, night-life right next to it. Also, in that area, there are at least 3 Backpacker Hostels - I can't comment on them - but the one on Blackfriar's Street is meant to be good. Also, on that street, there is a cute little bar/Veggie restaurant called B;ack Bo's gnerally used by students. They play good music after 9.00pm. For cheap healthy eating try Suzie's Diner - it's home made veggie food is lovely:
    It's a smallish place, but informal and wholesome. Popular with students. Tel +44 131 667 9729. [/I]
It's on West Nicholson Street in the University area.

Have a read of the Edinburgh guide;this will also give you links to other relevant sites.

Fingers crossed for good weather ; have a good time!

Edinburgh is a beautiful city, but I fell in love with the Scottish Highlands last year. :) Too cold for me to live there, though!

I know it's a huge tourist attraction, but Edinburgh castle is well worth a visit. And just walking up and down the Royal Mile is a great way to pass the time.

we stayed at the travelodge... a bargain.... 4 of us for 26.00 per room per night.

Worth a look to see if they have the offers on when you want to go.
