thanks nicca but it's north lanarkshire council unfortunatly :( my partner is going to phone them directly today and see if there's anything they can do to stop the sherrif officers.

we've worked out that we could maybe give them £500 this month and £500 next month, leaving another £500 to pay..

Tell him to try to talk to their Debt Advice team as well. I wil try to pm you the number.

  • thanks so much everyone, this is such a helpful forum!

my partner got it sorted today, basically we have to pay the sherrif officers fees (£68) and the council can take our case back again and then we'll pay them as normal.

such a weight off my shoulders (and i get to keep my bank account!!)

thanks again so much guys :D

Hi ... pleased to hear the details in your post.

    Suggestion, ok?

Spend some time on the forum, read some more posts - particularly those that involve posting an SOA (statement of affairs). Once you have read them, I think you will find that the members on here supply some great advice (yep, sometimes blunt and to the point) but all designed to help all of us budget and live within whatever means we have.

We all differ - and the size of our problems do as well - but time after time, when we help each other out - it's amazing how problems get solved.

Whether you post an SOA is 100% up to you - but just reading them I hope would help.

Glad to hear you got it sorted!

And I second *MF*'s suggestion :) Posted my SOA a couple of nights ago and while I didn't think there was much I could change (confirmed in some of the responses), it was a good sounding board to see what folks thought of what I was planning to do.
